K75 has up till now, run well but i stopped for lunch the other day, and about 1km after restarting, it started to run very roughly and wouldn't rev out, although ocassionally it would clear and rev hard.
I went back later in the day and picked it up and checked the fuel supply to the rail and that there was petrol going back into the tank. Conclusion - not a faulty fuel pressure regulator (and fuel tank very clean).
Started the bike up and it ran normally but 3kms down the road, it started dying again. Would only rev to about 2000 rpm and behaviour was not unlike that of the K100RS when the H E sensor failed in the heat. It's cool here at the moment so i don't think that is the problem. It's also not a tank vacuum problem.
It it Ok to assume that because, i have a fuel loop that the F P R cannot be the culprit?
I'm going to get a new set of injectors from the guy in Idaho but is there anything else worth checking in the meantime?

Fuel filter?  How long has it been in there?

Fuel pump?  They have been known to break.

No, don't think that these are the culprits although I will inspect filters. Flow to rail was quite strong anf also back into tank so that seems to eliminate a pump problem

Valve clearances OK??  Just a thought but the "on again, off again" behavior kind of points to electrical or elsewheres. Fuel pump connector being flakey maybe.

Dave that is just about the right sort of time frame to get the Hall Sensors hot. I would be replacing them.

Dave. I have a set of HES here for you. Rick's previous suggestion to bolt them on would be the quickest way to get you going for Tueusday.
But worth checking the valve clearances as its easy to do just to rule it in or out but not a quick fix if they're out. I have a few shims here but you'd be lucky if they're the right size.

thanks guys for the input.
i'll have to put this problem on the back burner because i'm flying out on tuesday morning to the Himalayan bike
ride and have to focus on making sure that i don't forget anything.
Have to ride an Enfield 500 whereas i'd prefer some little KTM hottie. At least it's fuel injected and needs to be to get over the Khardung La at 18500'. Probably a greater chance of my not coping with it.

Just as they left a left a food dump for Scott, I will leave a cache of Evan Evans Warrior for you, at the top behind Maccas.

Well, I had to look it up but as I'm in Brecon this August, I'll have to give some Warrior a try.

I am in Delhi at the moment, Dai, and the traffic is just scary crazy. Don't seem to be any road rules and I have given up any idea of renting a bike to get around. Went out to see my bike hire guy and the Enfield 500 today and am sure that I wont be doing any mono wheeling on that beastie.
I don't know if you have been to India before but if not, you are in for a BIG new experience. Anyway, if you buy my book "Confessions of a Khardung La pussy" you will get plenty of insights into how to plan a Ladakh trip.

Delhi... yeah. Been watching some fairly recent documentaries on Indian Railways; part of one was based in Delhi. That traffic would scare the kangaroo poo out of you, no trouble.

I see it hasn't changed much from 1996, probably from chaos to chaos+ but it would be hard to be any worse.
I found it very overwhelming and just wanted to get the hell out of the place.
