Seems like its time to be thinking about Patricks Day meet up. It's a Thursday so do we go for Saturday 12th or 19th? Interesting as the 26th is Easter, does that open up Saturday 25th?

Stradbally Fayre or elsewhere?

Rossko had been talking of being over for Patricks Day but his trip now looks to be May/early June.

There has been a little undercurrent about camping which might be an Easter option as Nore Valley Park will be open and 88KE has some bike testing to do. I am on for Easter camp if there are any takers.

I will update his post with dates.

All of the options are good for me but maybe we should wait on Dai to see if any of the dates suit his work requirements.

Also I would like to bring the K1 so can you organise a dry day Very Happy

Nice thought Simon but I think Murphy's got in for me. I'm on standby the weekend of the 12th and in Glasgow on the weekend of the 19th. Then I'm working over the Easter weekend but that was purely voluntary on my part because it gives me extra days to spend on my India trip.

Ah now I see the problem. This 'Murphys' stuff is brewed in Cork where it has a very strong hold.

Was a nice thought too and I thought we might get Dai with one of the weekends.

So what about Patrick's Day itself? Not sure if your K will point south on that day but its worth a try!

Experience would say steer away from the Easter Weekend as it tends to clash with family commitments and expectations.

19th seems like a good date for me...just sayin'. Hope to be introducing Rudolf Von Schmurf to the group in person  bounce

Any of the dates are ok for me at the moment so let's see what comes up.

Now this Rudolf Von Schmurf sounds good I have to admit.

Corkboy started this trend of buying K1100s unseen.......must be a mutation of the Kpox disease found in Cork.

I'm working Paddy's Day for the same reason as Easter Weekend. One of the options the company gives me for working bank/public holidays is double time and a day in lieu, so for working Paddy's, Easter and the UK May bank holidays I build up an extra usable week's leave. The India trip is going to suck up a three week block out of my normal leave, so I'm really grateful to my manager for bending the rules and allowing me to stack days in lieu. Normally they have to be used within three weeks of accrual.

Now that we have some honorary leprechauns in our krew , maybe the Oz Kontingent could help our Eccentrik friends boost the Pats Day celebrations with a corresponding meet up ? Gaz what about Harrigans at Pokolbin? plenty of Guinness there.

Grover it's certainly worth putting into the mix for March. The 17th is a Thursday so like the Eccentrics maybe the Satuday 19th would be the most likely (although the green beer might all be gone by then).

I guess I'd have to take the green bike!

Cheers

Espresso, I haven't met Trapper, but I can also confirm Ringfad is funny and friendly from personal experience.
Maybe I can also meet up with you in June or July when I'll be in NE France and close to Germany. Most likely not on a bike, but probably a BMW car. Close enough?

Grover and Gaz, sounds like a good excuse for another trip up to the Hunter. Very Happy

This sounds like an excellent idea and yes it looks like 19th is going to be the preferred date here.

We do have to keep something in mind for when Rossko is over but that is being taken Kare of in the ideas department by 88KE. Hopefully Dai will be able to make it and hopefully Comberjohn too.

A drop of blue or green food colouring in a glass of lager will give to green beer......I think a drop of blue gives Kawasaki Green and the green colouring gives Eccentric Green.

Ah, I remember Kassel very well. I bought my BMW R1150 GS Adventure there back in 2005 and rode it back to Ireland in 2 days. Very helpful BMW dealer in the town, I ordered a part at 5pm and they had it by 9:30 next morning.

Nice to hear Trapper, drop by next time, Kassel seams to be a name in Ireland :-)
And yes the BMW dealer is fast with parts here.
Since I lived in Cork for four years there is a other connection.

I'll have to come back to Ireland, maybe this summer.

Do you need some Pumpernickel and Bratwurst to help with the clutch?

I've got plenty. Thinking of getting an oil resistant friction plate though - it is quite expensive but may be worth the extra money in a 15 year old bike, especially before the big trip. It is advertised as able to work even in a complete oil bath. Last thing I want is having to do the clutch again due to an ageing seal in the middle of the Alps....

Well, for what I see I would either do the crankshaft rear seal or the oil resistant clutch plate. I guess the oil resistant plate is the better one because anyone buying one down the road will appreciate that.

Ok Chaps, Suggested route for the Run.....

11.00 am Departing Kilmartins Centra in Athlone (Sit down Café inside and McDonalds next door for Brunch if needed). 2.5 - 3 hours spin with stops we'd be in Stradbally for mid afternoon and easy breakout to motorways for run home.

Nothing is set in stone!

Lovely route.

Will chat with CluainSi and see what route we take from Cork. Might be a thought to go to Cahir and then meet up at Pallasgreen, decent petrol station and space to park. Open to suggestions. If JerhHeffernan makes it a route from Kanturk to Mallow to Mitchelstown to Cahir will work for him.

See what they say about the route up from Pallasgreen.

I suggest the route from Pallasgreen to Nenagh, Borrisokane (Right turn about 2 miles north of town) and on towards Rathcabbin in order to avoid crossing your tracks. You will cover the road from Cloghan Village via Ferbane to Kilmartins Centra (Ist roundabout you hit at Athlone coming from that side) twice, about 17 miles of good surfaced twisty and bumpy bog road but enjoyable.

Hi Olaf

I will do my best to be there on the 19th. If Trapper can make it we will have three K1's there maybe more, a rare enough sight here.

Cheers

Pat

Not as rare as you'd think.
Had a gathering of three at the classic bike show at  Leopardstown in October 2014. Trapper, Simon and another guy.

Rossko had been talking of being over for Patricks Day but his trip now looks to be May/early June.

There has been a little undercurrent about camping which might be an Easter option as Nore Valley Park will be open and 88KE has some bike testing to do. I am on for Easter camp if there are any takers.
