I bought gear a couple of years ago and it was ok.
Leather jacket with armour is really good value at AU$100
Helmet is pretty ordinary. A bit noisy, vents don't seem to work so the visor fogs up quite a bit in the cold wet.
Leather gloves were good.
The best deal were the jeans at $50. Heavy denim with a lot of kevlar lining. Inside pockets for hip and knee armour (not included).

the products keep changing.... so last years things will be a little different this year ....not all... but some

need another bike cover ...this one only lasted 2 years before it broke down ---some months ago ...purely by uv saturation, on the top of the windscreen area

Likewise Richard, I bought a pair of jeans last year and after wearing them went back and was lucky enough to find another pair my size so ended up with two pairs. Good to wear and can't beat the value. I have seen quite a few riders wearing them since.

I am a fan of Aldi too, but the last lot of gear while it was good the lining was not removable so I didn't buy it.

Kevlar jeans good and I simply swap the armour pads from the Aldi bike gear into the jeans. Good for travelling light...

I have their all weather jacket with liner, and whilst not ever having tested the road sliding side of it (thankfully) it is great in winter and has opening zippers in the front for summer. Good for the price and 2 years on hasn't fallen apart yet. I want the all weather pants but last time all the proper sizes (2xxl n up) were gone by 8.15 am. I thought I was the only fat biker.

I think their sizing is off. I am 5' 8" and under 12 stone and needed XXL gear to fit.

I have thetextile gear since last year andvery happy with it. It does have opening zippers but would be much too warm if the lining was not removable. I take it out April to early November. I bought it as a replacement for the previous Lidl gear which was road tested and did its job. I then road tested the Aldi gear too and it did its job. Let's just say if you go down on the right side the headers can burn your leg if you don't have gear on.

Bike covers were excellent but don't quite cover the RT with the tall screen and wider panniers but perfect on a stock RS.

I bought motorcycling socks from Aldi. They are supposedly asymmetrical, with the sock labelled "L" and "R". I've still yet to pluck up the courage to put the "R" sock on the "L" foot for fear of incurring the wrath of Almighty who oversees these things. If they are again available I will buy more pairs.

I had to explain to my senior high school students what darning was, and astounded them even more when I showed them some specifically labelled darning threads that I found in a garage sale.

Cattledog out now. They have socks. I looked at them last time but I have heaps of ski socks which are the same, left/right. They are slightly thicker where the ankle bones stick out.
They also have boots which look like DriRider Nordics.

Because the darning threads weren't always used on socks, left and right were for left and right handed people. Lots more right handed darning threads made. Left darning threads are now a collectors item and very valuable.

I'm 6' and take a 32"/82cm jeans normally. The jeans I bought last year were a 'small' and fitted me perfectly.

Aldi sizing is generally all over the place so there's no guarantee. What I did was grab a small and a medium and just returned the ones that didn't fit.

best I can guess stan is to get a known set of fitting jeans ...measure the spread across your hips with the jeans done up but not on... your measuring half the circumference ... and take note of the points where it would end each side of your hips ....the real issue is the lengthrelationship ...I have had good fitting wet weather pants from aldy around the waist ...but the knees were way too short on my leg ... last years lot were better dimensions ...

This post is for the attention of Rickmeister!!

Dragged myself out of bed this morning and pulled on my Aldi ski socks and Aldi riding jeans and headed off for a meetup with groverK and bro Tom at Hexham where groverK was extracting money for his upcoming charity ride in return for T shirts. After chit chat and koffee bro Tom, his mate Jacko and I headed off for a jaunt up to Dungog and then home via Gresford.

The whole point of the post is that when I got home I pulled off my boots and looked down in horror to see this;

and I survived the day!

So don't be afraid of the "L" and "R" Rickmeister, just close your eyes and pull the socks on.

Cheers

They'd be ideal for an old bike with arse about controls. There would be no further issues, just apply the correct socks at the beginning of the day.

I happen to be in Sydney this morning and graced the Aldi store at Broadway at 8.30. I should have worn my helmet and boxing gloves...talk about an aggressive crowd all heading to the bike stuff....did get xl jeans...which had size 38 printed inside them and some socks. The main target of the crowd was the helmet display

At least the the cut and thrust of the bike people provided entertainment for the staff of the store. I still have a score to settle with a person of the female persuasion who rammed me with a trolley containing 4 helmets, a few jackets and a pair of boots. Her accomplice was turning the sock selection upside down looking for a particular colour and size. Bloody bikie gangs!
I am now sane because I have returned home to a slower and more peaceful life.

Evereyone happy and chatting until they opened. What a disgrace. I got my xxl pants, only had one pair there so was a bit lucky. Most of the rest were actually after the lawn mowers. They are a different lot these Aldi shoppers.

The smarties get in on late Friday night before closing when they are laying out the new stuff for the morning.

I got some XXL leather pants, which will fit but not yet. I've lost 3kg in the last 2 weeks and still heading that way, it needed to be done. Will still have to cut some cow off the legs though to suit my short legs (curse that Scottish blood Wink)
