Hello to all.  Been lurking here for a little while now, lots of good advice and helping hands. I'm in the market put two wheels in my garage and I'm thinking an old K is going to look pretty good. So I've been doing the old Scour Craigslist every couple hours to see what's been posted. Any good advice or bad will be helpful. I've got my eyes on an 87 k100lt with 39000 miles. I'll be pulling the fairing off so I'll need advice on headlight mounting and such but let's start at the beginning. Thanks

Welcome SideArm. Plenty of help here, and elsewhere, on what to look for. The bike you are considering has low miles for its age.  Has it been wrecked?  Is that why you're planning to remove the fairing?
Are you new to motorcycling?  What have you owned/what has been your experience with two wheels?  Are you mechanically inclined? Don't wish to pry, but these sorts of things could have a bearing on your experience, whether positive or otherwise, with an old K-bike.

The ad seems likes it's in taken care of shape.  I need to go look at it.  Yeah taking off the fairing is the idea. Not cafe style but minimillist kinda street fighter but not so pretentious, Lol.  Definitely doable though I've got the tools and the chops(with help)

Been riding for a while off and on. Old Hondas and scooters.  But ready for something with class.

Welcome, from SE Michigan. It looks like you are in Michigan also.  There are a few around this area.  Good luck with the "new" K-bike.
