I had a quick look on realoem. Looks like they'll retrofit to my 89 RT. Can anyone confirm that??

If someone's got a K100 registered as a '94 model, then that's a cool trick since the last production was the middle of '92. But it is Australian rules, afterall.

They'll fit any K100, either 8V or 16V. But you'll have to cut holes if you don't have any there now.

They can be plated 94 if they came into the country as a grey import they were plated as if they were made in that year.
The d*$ heads changed the practice after a few complaints from insurance and dealers.
I had a 94 Toyota surf that was plated 2002.

I get that it's done like that in OZ and many other countries for unknown bureaucratic (tax $) reasons, but for a parts guy who attempts to look something up for a customer it's often a royal pain in the arse. As you know In BMW language, and many other manufacturers too, the first month of production for the new year is traditionally September, then through August. That defines a model year. Probably originally for transport purposes as new vehicles get built, are shipped to their intended market and rolled out to dealerships.

It is (and has been) changing as bikes/cars get intro'd earlier and earlier. My K100RS is a 1987 model year, the state calls it an '86, but it was sold to me as an '89 with a Queensland L01 import tag afixxed to the frame. It was built in 11/86.

Pendantics rule (but the taxman always wins)!

I noticed that anomaly on realoem and figured it was probably a grey import.

The old girl is naked now so no need for holes.
