Have just brought a 1984 K100RS with only 44,000 klms, full service history.
My name is Russell and i live in Melbourne Australia.
I've had all sorts of bikes but this is by far the smoothest and easiest to ride, Love it.

Hi Russell

Welcome to the forum. you are in good company there, quite a few Australian members and all very sociable, meet up, meet for beer do workshop days etc etc etc......

Have a look at the home page, there is a section on what to do if you have just bought a K.

When you get a chance pop up a photo too.

By the way, it's only a matter of time before you get a second K.....

Welcome Russell, I guess the Northern hemisphere is up while you sleep. Good to have you on board. As Olaf says there's a very active group in Oz so take advantage and be safe on the K.

Speaking Australian(aka Strine) isn't the problem.  Trying to read all the text thats been typed upside down from the northern hemisphere is problem though; you do get used to it eventually.

Nice one CF! Has the snow gone and the bike emerged from the basement yet?
I've just been completing a Nova Scotia visitor survey which reminded me of the good time I had over there earlier in the year and meeting up with you. Seems a very long time ago now. Still, next year, the works trip may be to Sydney (the slightly more famous one, rather than the Nova Scotia one) and a chance to meet up with some more forum members (unless they are all in Ireland at the time).

The Aussies might be the wrong way up, but at least they ride on the proper side of the road. To coin the old saying...the left side is the right side, the right side is suicide!

Well, I got the least mileage on the bike for the last 10 years.
I spent the whole winter just cleaning snow and ice (I was even using the chainsaw to break the ice on my driveway) and as a result I didn't have the time to work on the sidecar. Then, it took so long to repair the roads that I didn't feel safe to ride before the end of May and was procrastinating taking the bike out.
I had a a couple of planned trips until the end of the summer + work to do at home. Then I was for a month 1/2 suffering from back problems. The weather was also very wet. I only licensed one bike and the rig stayed in the basement.
I am planning to retire next spring and will certainly take advantage of my free time in the future.
I am already preparing for the winter which according to the weather man forecast could be worst than last year. The sale of snow blowers is exponentially growing this year.
I may have to sell one bike and buy an old ski-doo and fit it with a k100 engine. This would be interesting!
CF

Looking forward to seeing the progressive account of the rebuild in the custom section. Will be most edifying.  New Member 44271

Snow here in Goulburn maybe once a year, so not a project for me. My equivalent would be a jet ski.
