Hi I have just bought a 1991 K100RS that needs a bit of tender loving care, though I have owned BMW's continuously since 1968... R26, R90S, R27 (still owned), R100RS, 20 year gap, K100RT, R1150R and now the latest flying brick.

My name is Graeme and I live near Brisbane in SE Queensland Australia.

I've also had a stack of other motorcycles over the years and currently also ride a Yamaha XV1900 Roadliner....well you have to grow old disgracefully as the saying goes.

Anyway I just like motorcycles and in retirement hope to play with a few other motorcycling fantasies. Also looking for a K75 and R80GS to complete the 1, 2, 3, 4 cylinder BMW thing....cheers

Hi Graeme,

Welcome from the northern Territory too.

You will soon find everyone is very helpful and we all enjoy a little banter and meet ups too. A nice history too, loved that old R90S when it came out. About 2 years back had the pleasure of a trip from Wexford across to Cork, over 2 hours, in the company of a Dutch guy on an R90s that he had owned from new, the original smoked orange colour,  it had taken him everywhere and he always travelled on his own.

Some nice meet ups down your way and you will find everyone very helpful so never be afraid to ask a question.

Thanks for the warm welcome I like the way that members support each other with technical assistance and humorous banter....especially loved reading the epic tale of Floyd and his K100, it took me three days to get through the eighteen pages of info and banter and I loved every minute of it except for the prang and the partner leaving......wish you well Floyd now you seem to be up in the sunny state now.

The Gaz80 K75 Cross Country was another great tale of dedication and upgrade that gave me lots of inspiration and I hope I'm able to partially match with the K100RS revitalisation project I'm currently working on....good for the mind to have a challenging project.

The R90S sure was quite a weapon in it's day, I had one off the first boat into Sydney in 1974, silver smokey grey and 40mm pumper Dellorto's and all, and well looked after by Don Wilson at Tom Byrnes....and later on when he had a BM service shop of his own out Botany way if my memory serves me well.

The '61 R27 while not quite the speed merchant of the R90S.... Laughing ....is still a pleasure to restore again after 20 odd years languishing in the shed and it's up and running again with the odd piece from Munich Motors and further afield in Germany.....amazing what is available after all those years...

Thanks again for all the encouraging words of support.....a great community to be a part of and hope to meet some of you one day....cheers and safe riding...

The next oportunity is the ride through the Northern Tablelands (that's NSW not the real ones around Mareeba) and it doesnt matter what bike you are riding.
