Hello, I've been wondering round these pages for a while and finally taken the plunge to join in. I am originally from Perth, WA. I have ridden various K's & R's over the past 20 odd years (gosh, where did they go?). I started with a K100RS, then moved to London and got a lovely R100RS (1978 year I think) which took me all over Europe, great times. Then an R80GS found me before I fell for an unusual K1, which I still have. The K1 is the "Touring" version, basically the rear end of a K100 with 'sensible' panniers - I am not sure whether this modification was an official model or something the Dealer in Reading (UK) did. I also have a R1200GS (2012) which has been getting the lions share of the attention lately. As I was given the 'use it or lose it' message recently I thought I better get going with sorting out the battery and service for the K1 and get riding!

Anyway, hope to meet some locals some time.

Cheers,

Greg

Welcome Greg, I'm quite new here also but the help and banter from the forum members is a great help in sorting out any issues and getting the K back in action.....I'm sure you will agree... Smile

Welcome along. There are quite a few k1 afficionados here, Can't say I've heard of the touring configuration but it makes sense. Any pics of it? (there a "how to" sticky in the general discussions section of the forum.)

Hi Greg,

I'm in the process of leaving Perth myself after a spell of nearly two years in the Hills - going back to Bunbury.

Moving gets harder as my family of Ks grows - now stands at three runners ('85 K100RS, '85 K75C and '87 K100RT) and two non runners ('86 K75C and '90 K100RT) in WA alone. Also an '05 DR650 (runner) and 2 x mid 80s Honda VT250 (non runners)

Remember me if you are revisiting the South West of WA as I'm familiar with the 'use it or lose it' THREAT!

Cheers
