Hey guys! Great Forum you got here, so I wanted to join the club! I'm a mid twenties guy with a 1985 bmw k100rs. it has more problems than every vehicle i've ever owned put together, and gets more of my attention than my girlfriend.

I've been looking at this forum for a while for tips when doing repairs, and I figured I should go ahead and support the cause and sign up already.

Cheers,
Ben

Welcome Ben,

Nice part of the world for year round riding.

Sorry to hear that your '85 RS is playing up. Put up a post in one of the technical sections and share your problems - someone, somewhere will help put you straight. Also, look at the links on the portal page - so I bought a K and the electrical trouble shooting pages are an excellent introduction to some of the more common issues.

Most jobs are well within the capability of the home mechanic and it is good to get stuck in and tinker (with the confidence of the forum knowledge behind you).

Top tip - don't neglect your girlfriend too much. Go and spoil her and buy her a K75 or K100 too!

Hi Ben welcome from the other side of the Pacific. Remember on this forum a problem shared is a problem solved. Well for your K.

So true!  The technical knowledge available here is second to none.  You've landed in an excellent place for support in sorting out the problems with your bike, Ben. With a little effort on your part, you'll be rewarded.
I'm impressed by the number of people who indicate they own a 1985 K100RS.  That must have been a year in which the RS models were very popular indeed.

Welcome along man. Stick with it and you'll have a very reliable ride. Old bricks usually only give out about previous owner neglect once its resolved they stay fixed. I bought on much like that and it has never once let me down on the road despite the fact that I an now in year 4 of a rolling resto. I enjoy riding it too much to stop.
