Happy 2016 to my OZ brethren and to all the rest round the world whose turn it soon will be... here on the US West coast it's still more than half a day away.

Remember, you can reset your resolutions on January 14th (Orthodox New Year) and February 8th (Chinese New Year). After that, no one can help you.

Seven-and-a-half hours to go for here just yet. Working from home but truthfully not doing much, except hoping no-one's gonna call and expect me to sort out some nasty problem in the US of A. Or India. That would be even worse

Happy New Year to all members and other lurkers. Hoping 2016 is a great year for all K-bikers.
I spent 10 hrs on the road on Wednesday riding North to spend NYE with friends. Normally about an 8hr ride. Traffic was very congested and stationary in several sections with crazy holiday makers along the Pacific H'way and banked up for nearly 10klms south of Macksville. Thankfully recent changes in traffic rules across Eastern Australia now allow us to legally lane filter up the outside. I read recently that California is now the first US state to allow lane filtering. A great move.

Enjoy the holiday season and ride safe

California has allowed 'lane splitting' for yonks (ages, for the unitiated). Washington state and other US states are in various stages of 'considering' it. Even at legal speeds madsters on bikes will fly past your elbow in Cali, it's quite entertaining, though they're supposed to keep it to under 30 mph with cars stopped or barely moving, and it's 'allowed' between cars, all lanes! Only recently did the CA state gubmint propose to NOT allow it, and pulled any reference to it as a legal activity from the state's websites. But it's frequent, common and for the most part, practiced safely and efficiently. Most drivers move aside ever so slightly to allow bikes to pass. Done right, it works, and should be the norm instead of the exception.

Four and a bit hours to go 'til 2016 from here! H.N.Y!

It's been allowed only because there haven't been specific laws restricting motorcyclists from lanesplitting. A bill proposing guidelines for lane splitting in CA with was due to be considered last year (2015) and I thought it had been passed but it's been withdrawn for rewriting due to opposition from both sides. It looks like it will be vastly different to what we have in OZ with much higher speeds.

Happy New Year to all as I sit here listening to the sirens at the bottom of my road. The State Police are harassing the patrons of the local pub as they make their way home from the evening's festivities.

France just voted a bill allowing lane splitting in 4 big areas of the country.
This is a test for the next 4 years and this right can be canceled if the rate of accidents increases.
Lane splitting will be only allowedon 4 lanes dividedroads/highways, where the authorized maximum speed is equal or higher than 70 km/h.
Lane splitting will be authorizedwhen traffic is, because of its density, moving in uninterrupted lane(s) up to a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

According to this bill, lane splitting will not be allowed on city streets because the maximum posted speed is only 50km/h.

This will be effective starting in February 2016.

Happy New Year to all too.

Sad happy to see 88KE got hit by Kpox twice this year. Most recent case grabbed him New Years Eve as he collected a red carbuncle K1100RS with a black spot. An excellent example. Long live the eKcentrics.
