The engine I've just pulled from my 8v has noisy main bearings. I'm intending to remove the cylinder head to freshen and perhaps the hall effect sensor although I've never yet suffered a failure.

Anything else worth keeping before I dispose of the remains or does anybody want anything from it. It's a quiet engine other than the crankshaft rattle.

Al

Will remove the alternative drive too, I need it for my spare 1100 engine.

all the injection path I guess al

fuel rail , injectors , afm etc ..(have a few throttle bodies and plenums )

injectors are always a plus ....what year model was it ...?

coils ...if they measure ok on the secondaries (10k - 12 k is good )

sprag clutch if its after late 85, after they changed it

output shaft if no clunk = low ks (good rubbers in the buffer housing )?

be interested to see the main drive gear off the crank also ...along with the output shaft gear ...they have a tendency to shark tooth ...erm wear a fair bit from what I have seen depending onanti rattle spring etc .

Will remove the alternator drive too, I need it for my spare 1100 engine, that's where the knock is.

The output shaft has no clunk, but i just realised I should hang on to that to complete the other 1100 motor that Floyd gave me. It's had the bottom end stripped but is complete otherwise.

Too many spares!

Al

Al I recall a couple of posters last year say they had spare engines, that were duds due to the fact corrosion had entered the bore, so before you ditch the block maybe check and report if its a clean block so some of them can maybe save themselves the job of having their spare block re-sleeved if they need it.

I'll look when I get the head off.
