This video published by NASA is made of 200 millions images (4096x4096 pixels) representing over 2,600 Terabytes of data. They were taken by the satellite Solar Dynamics Observatory(SDO) over a period of 1826 days (or 5 years)

Enjoy this truly spectacular video. (see it in full screen)

It makes one realize just how insignificant we really are considering that any one of those solar flares would cook our planet in an instant if it were right there. makes me glad that there are 93 million miles between earth and the sun. It makes me wonder that if a brick would do that distance where would you stop for new tyres.

Hallo RicK!

What I assume is that there will be a gas station and tire service on a asteroid half the way. Since the milky way is a good street, you will not need much new tires :-)
If you do the trip, give me a shout, I'll join you, do not forget some sausage, we can have a Barbecue on The SUN 5600 Calvin should be Fine.

Cheers
