What an excellent idea. Definitely count me in for that. Camping for me and Owen will come along too, so two so far and we will see if we can make it an Eccentric trip from Cork.

Had a little discussion down here and if its in order plan to head off early am on the Friday. Just short of 3 hours leisurely ride and time to get tent pitched up lunchtime and enjoy an afternoon spin around the block.

That leaves time for a Fri night BBQ too. Hopefully a few more Kampers or B&B overKnighters. That's your cue Comberjohn. Wonder about Dai.......I can bring some fish and at least this time it wont be turned into fish leather.

For those who prefer their creature comforts. But you can't have a BBQ in a B&B......We will treat you to one..!

Always good to have the Pallasgreen Kontingent along. Its a lovely harbour and some rather nice routes. Will treated me to some of these routes last year.......he travelled pillion with me! I think they were called back seat directions.

Usual problem with work hours - I wouldn't be able to get there much before very late Saturday afternoon.

For once though, I'm not on call that weekend! Very Happy

Sadly, I'm not able to make it over for this gathering... daughter will be heavily into her GCSE exams and I'll be in full parental supporting role so unable to sKive off for the weekend.

Dai, since you are not so far away from us that might work as you would get to enjoy the Saturday evening festivities and Sunday Ship's Breakfast with not being on Kall.

I am sure we could organise some meet up point and accommodation. Would be good to see you. Keep an open mind most especially if you are up to some camping.

Sadly Born Again Eccentric cant join us. I do recall him mentioning the exams some time back.

I'll wait until we get Elizabeth's shift rota for May before I make a final decision (should be due in a couple of days). If she's not working that weekend then I won't be coming. She's nursing staff at the Royal in Belfast, so her rota for one month isn't guaranteed to be the same the next month.

Yeah - we both work shifts. Sometimes it's ships passing in the night for up to three days at a time.

Thought I would fix this one for you. Anyway hope you can make it, but if not there's always another time.

For anyone not wishing to get accomadation here's a link to the Nearest B&B to the Harbour. Accomodation is also available at Hannons Hotel. (approx 12kms) and a few more B&B's near Hodson Bay hotel approx the same distance back towards Athlone.

Catering plan for the Saturday night is BBQ, BYOB and BYOM (ie. whatever you want to cremate on the B.B.Q.), I'll provide the Spuds, salads and accompanyments.

All we need now is for the weather to play ball  roundel

I suppose the route back takes us past a supermarket for some good meat supplies.

Might have a surprise or two along.

Three hours for me so definitely head up Friday or possibly even late Thursday evening.

Is that a meet up Saturday morning at Kilmartin's? Good spot for coffee and fuel up, easy to find for anyone coming from afar.

Plans made to head up early on the weekend, possibly even Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Seems a likely arrangement is to meet up at Kilmartin's services at Athlone on the Saturday morning for an 11am departure. Same place as we met in March. Macdonalds and a petrol station so just look for the Macdonalds.

Route organised by Will around the lake, on way back we pass an Aldi/Lidl and can stock up with some bbq food items. Estimated time back at Lecarrow and the boat would be about 5pm set up BBQ etc. Its not so far from here back to Dublin so anyone heading home can stay on for a little.

For those camping the harbour at Lecarrow is lovely. I am definitely camping out Friday and Saturday night and looking forward to it. There is bike parking and a good grass area and an excellent toilet/shower facility alongside the harbour.

Nice to give Will an idea of numbers staying for the BBQ. I disKovered a left over Kristmas pudding which would keep until next Christmas but it might just find its way up for consumption on the evening.

Have a ball lads.  Sorry I'm going to miss it, now that I've finally fixed the fork leak (fourth fork seal) with a replaced stanchion. - should have copped that after seal two.   Crying or Very sad

No doubt we'll catch up when I'm back from my travels, with a day out.

By the way, check out a question from a guy in the Netherlands coming to Ireland.

http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12772

I'm going to reply, but some of you (Olaf?) might want to chime in.
