Hi all,
Picked up a 96 K1100RS a month ago that was in need of some TLC. I started doing some fixing up and test rides last week.
Its a real head turner, but in a bad kind of way.
I found whenever I enter a parking lot, people run for cover, thinking the thing is about to blow.
I ordered a replacement fuel pump. That should take care of that alarming noise.
But now I'm starting to wander If BMW intentionally made it that way.
Loud fuel pumps save lives!
Craig

Hi Craig

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you got a typical K as in needing work when you get it but then it will settle down nicely.

Some fuel pumps are noisy. Some fuel pumps are VERY noisy. Like a warm of angry wasps inside your gas tank.

On a more serious note don't be afraid to ask questions as everyone is really very helpful and welcoming.

Hi Craig welcome to our special kind of Knuthaus.
Check that the body of the pump isnt lose in the rubber vibration damper andfallen down contacting the inside of the tank.  If it is touching it's like an echo chamber and really amplifies the noise especially when the tank is getting empty.  I had it happen on my K100 and the noise was very loud.
