My name is Chris, and my brothers and I rode bikes (mostly British and Japanese) when we grew up in New Zealand. Since moving to the US in 1989, I have stopped riding bikes as daily transport.

When visiting one year, my older brother bought a 1985 K100RS so he and his wife could ride around the US seeing the country. He left the bike with me when he returned to NZ, after 5 months of riding around most of the States. Since then, I've taken it for small (< 250 miles) rides and basically stored/maintained it.

Now my kids have grown, I'd would like to get the K-bike running good and see more of this country. I hope the forum can help me get it set up correctly so I can head out on the highway.

Cheers.

Welcome!

We are a rather mercurical lot here.

Depending on mood, if you ask a question that has already been asked and answered, you might actually get an answer or get dinged for not trying to put a bit of original effort into helping youself first by doing a bit of research...

Now that that is said - I'm looking forward to you sharing your journey with us!

not too many from under the long white cloud (nz)  use g'day ....   first sign your "a great western islander"  ,,,and you don't have to say anything else after that if your in nz

Kia ora  is a traditional greeting in nz ...hmm how do you combine the kiwi greeting with western us greeting ?
does that become something unpronounceable ?

or just howdy ?

but I guess kia ora has a different ring in far off lands instantly recognisable amongst fellow new Zealanders

I wonder do kiwis over there cling together in close regions like they seem to do over here ? or like aussies  do over there ?

just wondering
