Why do you say that? What are the symptoms you are observing?

It might be much cheaper to replace the regulator or charge light than the entire alternator.

Well, at this point it is just thinking out loud since the brand new battery is in and after only a week the charge lamp came on. I'll check the charge voltage with a meter, at the battery terminals. A month ago when I checked it was charging about 14.1 at around 3000 rpm. And 13.2 at above idle. I noticed o er the last six months once in a while the charge lamp would just barely glow them.extinguish.
