By kind collaboration with RT, we're proposing a weekend ride on the first or second weekend of September.

My first encounter with Rosskko was at RT's place when he demonstrated pulling apart the drive train of a K. This was followed by a ride down the coast and back the next day.

Which date choice is open to discussion. The base for the ride would be the Lemmons Rd campground at Robertson, known to many, and the ride program also up for suggestion/discussion.

I am also proposing that participants be requested to contribute $10 or $20 on the weekend to make another donation to the Life Raft Group as per 'in lieu of flowers' at the time of Rosskko's funeral. Such donation to be a single donation under the name K100 Forum, rather than named individuals.

What do Forum members think?

Bill and RT.

Thanks to Dai for the immediate offer of a contribution.

When plans are further advanced (assuming the whole thing gets off the ground), I'll open a channel for contributions from those who can't participate in the ride, and make sure it is accountable.
Until then, hold that thought.

Bill

Chez Robertson will be open for business. 618 mil of rain last weekend and more to come tomorrow means the camp ground will be nice and soft. It might be further down the hill than before but will be open.
Early Sep is still too early for Snowy ride thoughts as you need chains until the Oct long weekend apparently ( I have one on my Suzuki, does that count). So the coastal fringe south might be the go.

Well seeing as the next weekend is the Farcairn Rally I should be able to make it and do 2 for the price of one.

That would make the second weekend in September the go.

I propose pre ride festivities and camping chez RT (firewood and firewater available, according to Bob) on Friday night 9 September. Ride Saturday. Circuit somewhere, back to Robertson Saturday night for further festivities and firewater.

I'll lock that in unless there are howls of protest across the forum. OK?

Bill

Snowy ride as per last February is on the plan for next year for those interested. Thinking March at the moment, but flexible according to the wishes of potential participants. Jindabyne base again.

Back in February, I was approached by a fellow rider in our area, Bernie , who was wanting to support the same Charity as the Blue Boxer does, the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance- HPCA,  by putting together a ride which takes in most of NSW . The HPCA put him in contact with me to see if we could put something together as a ride .
The idea is to organise a social ride that starts at Newcastle and encompasses stopovers at Lithgow? , Narooma , Junee, Bingara and back down through Walcha or the Far North coast.

Bernie's intentions are to do this ride during early Spring .

Shortly after airing this to Sandra , during our discussions regarding Smurfette, Bill put up his own thoughts of a ride , and this( his ) is one I am keen to get along to and support  .
As mentioned previously , I've managed to get time off between the 10th - 18th Sept.
In my attempt to balance committments , I've suggested to Bernie if we can fit this in between Bills " Rosskko Ride" on the 10th , and the Far Kairn rally on the 17-18th.
Bills ride is in support of Liferaft , Bernies ride is in support of the HPCA . My support during the time at RT's will be for Liferaft.

The purpose of the state ride , brings with it a "special " ceremony of which Mr klompy will be sharing with the krew ,as we pass through areas such as Robertson , Snowy Mtns Hwy , Dubbo , Bingara and Guyra . So this will allow for anyone to connect at any part of the ride .
I'm hoping we can extend this " Special " ride to Bathurst also , as Rosskko loved his Holdens , and on to Tottenham for the Far Kairn Rally, where we ran amuck in 2013.
The Far Kairn brings with it the proposed formal handover of the sKroll to Al 58 , which is currently with TWB in the Grand Ole USA.
Bill and RT does this somehow work in with your thoughts at all for that weekend .
Bernie has not yet confirmed , but it would be good to share a week out and about , especially on a special occasion such as this .
My thoughts are that people could take in any level of participation , join in where they can .
Klompy , maybe a meet up at Richmond for the run down to RT's . I'll see you well before this takes place .

The date for the proposed Rosskko ride is a question mark at the moment, as there are local government elections 10 Sept (For those that haven't been Bairded out!)

No definitive decision yet re date, though we'll need to finalise it soon.

Bill

thanks Bill , the Blue Boxer long ride ( name yet to be decided) is still in the confirmation stage , but I hope it can work in with your ride in some way .
The Far Kairn will also still provide a good opportunity for a rounded trip to help Klompy with his "special " event .
Rosskko's adventures took him to many locations , and provided for much pleasurable banter here amongst the Krew.

Well we are an open house here, and pretty flexible on the exact dates. Bill is right about the local elections being a pain, and as he is a tireless worker for the Electoral Commission, that original weekend doesn't suit. I
think Rick G is a bit flexible as well.
I don't recommend this part of the world before the end of August, cold and usually very windy but I know you lot are fearless.
I have school holiday duties after 23rd Sept and will hopefully doing a northern ride early October. Over to the collective management skills.
Have to say it's a bit wet here another 3 inches of rain, the water table now is about equal to ground level. Need some wind.
Safe riding geezers.

I've just had an idea. WHy not make the Rosskko Ride International.
Each country has a ride on the same weekend to remember our mate.

Great idea, I think.

Trying to tie it to a worldwide date might be problematic, though. Hard enough to coordinate one country or part thereof.

I'd suggest that anyone who wants to coordinate a ride in their corner of the world negotiate a date with potential participants there.

Bill

I'm with Bill , I like the idea Larrikan , it is more the issue of syncing a date. As we all know our seasons are varied , and ride conditions are difficult to co ordinate .
The one benefit we have in OZ is we ride all year.
Canada , Northern America and UK would all be on par with each other for Summer - Winter I'd expect , maybe tune in with them .
We know how much Rosskko enjoyed riding Nekkid in the cold .......

Good one  Leon
looks like we better get some confirmation of dates here. I can cater for 2/3/4 Sept, 9/10/11 Sept or 16/17/18 Sept.
As Indian 036 Bill points out 9/10/11 is the Local Council Elections in NSW Compulsory Voting and Bill has to work.
I know getting a consensus of dates is difficult but if you could let us know how many can/could make each date
then the majority will have to rule.(in true Democratic fashion, under the counter payments and gifts of alcohol are entirely permissible in the Potato Kingdom).

When you come to visit, Dai, you'll find that Robertson is known here for potato growing, to the entent that they have even built a big potato the size of a small house to celebrate the fact.

The less kind call it the big turd!

At least the big merino sheep in Goulburn can't be mistaken for anything else.

Hi Tom, I forgot to mention that everyone has to ride their newest acquisitions. Look forward to scolding you about wasting more money.

G'day Bob, thanks for that. Looking forward to a "Dad" type of berating while trying to explain this pox is incurable. The latest acquisition may not be ready in time for the ride but I am sort of spoilt for choices. Hope you have organised better/improved weather condition. Looking forward to catching up. Cheers Tom

Hello fellow soaked east coasters
seems this wet weather is not going away anytime soon, but man the countryside is greening up(=early lawn mowing season coming up here).

Circumstance has required me to amend and finalise the date of this Robertson stay to the first weekend in September, starting on Friday 2nd. I know this clashes with a few being somewhere else getting wet, as does the 3rd weekend but I have received orders for commitments on the weekend of the 9th.

So please, anybody who can make it, you are most welcome. Dinner on Friday can be arranged at the local Bowlo or Pizzas here, or burnt offerings on the bbq, and Saturday night after our ride will be some sort of gruel
slow cooked by nubile wenches (if you are into Grannies that is) and served hot.

The weather will still be very changeable and cool/cold at night but I have acquired a new outside fireplace
and have wood. (Aldi gear may/may not get melted if it's a bit windy.)
Look forward to catching up.

I'm going to say "I'll make that weekend".... and thanks for being the host Bob. Personally, I'm hoping for a rainy weekend which will give me an opportunity to put my new Battlax T30 Evos thru their paces. I've not had a decent country ride in the wet since I fitted them a few weeks ago.
I'm not looking forward to tenting in the rain tho.
Cheers mate

Thanks mate. sorry you won t be here but all the best for your adventure.
Waz is coming on Saturday 3rd so we have a quorum.
Kapitain Holister, with the amount of small round sticks on the roads round ear you shall indeed get to test your tyres, including bright green fungi on the road edges.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and input re the date. Wouldn't it be great to be able to organise a ride where everyone who wants to is able to come. (was that the sound of pig's wings flapping?)

As indicated in the first post,
"I am also proposing that participants be requested to contribute $10 or $20 on the weekend to make another donation to the Life Raft Group as per 'in lieu of flowers' at the time of Rosskko's funeral. Such donation to be a single donation under the name K100 Forum, rather than named individuals."

If there is anyone like Dai (Post #2) who, though most welcome, is unable to come but would like to contribute to the collective donation, please send me a PM and I'll pass on PayPal details.

I will be making sure that all money received is accounted for, though I don't want to turn it into a competition or shaming exercise by publishing individual contributions.
I'll take care of money transfer costs, if any, so the full contribution will be passed on.

Looking forward to catching up in early September.

Bill

Hello chaps....unfortunately there is but one of me ( one too many some would say) as I committed to one of RossKKo and Ed's charity get togethers.....but will try to overshoot home on the way back and go straight to Robertson....this is the cunning plan...as we all know the plans of mice and men are often thwarted.....best intentions in place.

RT i will be in touch for update contacts and address Doh...by the way still have your HT leads in my panniers for you.. LOL

The intention at the moment is yes I/we'll be there.  I'll have to see how I pull up after the OCR and then the TTT rally(where you really have to like dirt, mud and fire trails) just the week before.  Or see what bike is till running Wink Be nice to have something not so challenging for a change.
