I've managed to break my right hand throttle control trying to force it onto a new set of bars that it clearly didn't want to go onto. Does anybody have one for sale? Just the metal part that clamps and the throttle twist ideally, I can re-use my lever, master cylinder and electronic controls. Any help much appreciated! Postage to the UK would be best so please just let me know the damage.

Cheers, Russ.

Thanks for that Inge, great find! It's the throttle tube as well as the lever mount block I've broken but I'll give them a call when they're open again on Monday to see what they can do. All on the ones on eBay are for the clutch side, just my luck. Cheers!

How embarrassing, I thought I'd had a thorough look! It'S been a long week, evidently... Thanks Inge, looks like a one stop shop for whenever I manage an irreparable 'modification'!

All the best, Russ.

Hi Russ,

I've managed to break my right hand throttle control trying to force it onto a new set of bars that it clearly didn't want to go onto.

It is usually found the non OEM bars a fraction larger, hence the damage. A little fettling may be required to ease the problem.

Mike

It's always a good idea to have your model and year posted (I suggest in your signature, though I note it's in your user name) with requests like this due to variances.

BMW 'bars are 22mm as opposed to the 'standard' 7/8" which is 22.225mm. When I fit larger diametre Pro Tapers to my Big Block project I simply ran a wheel cylinder tool on a drill through the left and right hand controls to enlarge slightly the bore.

The Mystic, Big Block, 2nd K1200RS, K12R & K13 are running & ridable.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I should've thought to mention the bike model from the start, although it is down there in my signature too. The clutch side control block slid on fairly easily with just a little bit of filing, some silicon spray, a block of wood and a hammer but what I didn't stop to consider is that the throttle twist not only has to turn but is also not metal so it's now become firmly lodged inside the (now broken) clip-on and the part that clamps down has sheared off. That'll teach me for partaking in such heresy as fitting clip-ons to a K bike.

As I've completely ballsed the bar itself up now I think I'll machine down a replacement length of tube to suit so that I don't run the risk of damaging another set of controls. Motorworks are calling me back to confirm availability so my fingers are firmly crossed. Excellent info about the bar diameter, that'll be invaluable when it comes to machining down the replacement bar I've just ordered.

Cheers again guys, as ever this forum is an absolutely invaluable source of information!

Russ.
