Hey folks
Im wonder if anyone can tell me how to check my coil pack with a multimeter.

I started my bike the other day and straight from start it was running lumpy
below 3000rpm and when accelerating it it misfiring and running horrible.
Above 3000 it runs smooth and fine.
Im going to pull my plugs now and check them but want to know the procedure for checking the packs too.

If its not them then i will start checking rubber etc for air leaks.

You'll find that info in the 'Trouble Shooting' link in the middle of the Portal page. Testing coils is quite a way down the page. There's a lot of very useful info there thanks to our venerable Crazy Frog.

Here are a few other suggestions.
Could be sparkplugs. At least they will give you an indication as to whats happening ie clean or sooty.
You might find one or two of the vacuum take-offs on the throttle bodies is cracked or missing.
There could be corrosion in the HT lead plugs either end or in the coil sockets. Make sure you have terminal nuts fitted to the spark plug tops.

Cheers

Well removing the spark plugs showed me the problems.

One had snapped of the bent part of the electrode and all 4 were only in a few turns on the thread.
They, and all the ht leads were covered in black soot from exhaust.
4 new plugs in and cleaned the ht leads.
Seems to run better now.

Will take it for a spin in a few days once i have replaced a cracked fuel line and put the new S fairing on.

Thanks

Given what you have found, I'm surprised it smoothed out over 3000rpm.
