Well I was sorting out some Kamping plans and decided with another biker to head for Nore Valley Park campsite early on Friday 17th March for a camping weekend.

Mentioned it to 88 [Will] and the suggestion of a Stradbally Fayre [or anywhere else if suggested] meet up on Saturday 18th March and an outing rapidly arose.

Now the question, anyone on for it? BAE??

Edit 13th March:

Stradbally Fayre 10am Saturday 18th March:
88 [Camping Nore Valley Park]
92KK Olaf [Camping Nore Valley Park]
Owen [Camping Nore Valley Park]
Bjorn [Camping Nore Valley Park]
Pat O'D
Cluain Si
Ringfad

Maybe, just maybe...not sure if I'll be free that weekend yet though, but it is now on the radar!

Plan is to head out of Cork early on the Friday morning and get to Nore Valley early. Bikes will be sorted and panniers loaded up on Thursday night. But you know your way there already.

Ask me at the end of the month when the new shift rota is up. There's the usual 1-in-4 chance I'll be on-call, but the real killer is that I don't finish work until midnight and I'm home by 00.45. That's not conducive to early rising.

You would be very welcome to come along to Bennettsbridge.

Its very near J9 on M9 and about an hour from Portlaoise. Excellent camp site too and probably do BBQ Friday night.

We will be going on the morning of the Friday 17th March and camping both Friday and Saturday night.

Plan is to head east on N25 to Lemybrien, Carrick-on-Suir, Thomastown. Bennettsbridge.

If you are going from Kanturk maybe the best as in most direct route is Mallow Fermoy Mitchelstown Cahir Clonmel Kilkenny and take the turn off for Bennettsbridge before you get to Kilkenny, takes you to Danesfort, go right for Stoneyford and at the crossroad with the church go left. Time from Cahir is about 1 hour.

Do let me know if you are planning on it because we have a few pitches in mind there that are rather nice.

Saturday is excellent.

Looking like a K meet up at Stradbally Fayre on Saturday. Chances are CluainSi will be coming in which case meet up at Mother Hubbards at Cashel butt hat will be early start.

If you are not heading off that early then.......head for Bennettsbridge. We are 'known' to the Reception office so if you arrive before we are back once you say you are with the others on the bikes then they will show you where to go. We will tell them you are Koming.

We will be camped from Friday so will have pitchand bbq sorted out.
At the moment we have 3 tents and yours would make 4.

How do I always get saddled with this job! Question

St. Patrick's weekend run 2017

I presume we are going for a Stradbally Fayre meet for brunch? at say 10 am Saturday.

We have been East, North West and Soputh East of our meeting point Therefor I have proposed South West.

The route is based purely on me scouting maps, If any one knows of more scenic runs or fun roads to ride around that area please please chip in your t'pence worth.

I arrived at Stradbally Fayre 30mins late due to heavy rain in the west as I left home. Ringfad was contemplating the menu over his first coffee. I promptly ordered the full Irish Breakfast as we chatted over our food Olaf and Owen rolled up. After a while it became apparent that we were the Krew for this event, bank holiday family commitments taking most of our loyal pals away to other duties.

Looking over the weather maps we abandoned the planned route and headed east at a modest pace avoiding motorways, along winding roads greasy with fresh farm muck and other hazards until we hit the N81 where Ringfad headed North and we 3 south. A fuel stop at Bunclody then into Carlow town for supplies before arriving surprisingly dry at the campstie in time for me to pitch my tent alongside Olaf and Owen's two before dark. All in240kms for me for the day and only 20kms of that on motorway.roundel

Thanks for the post. I see the lardons outside your tent too.

I was watching the weather map all week and it was looking increasingly risky for most areas apart from the south coast and an area extending up towards Kilkenny where we were planning to camp. We definitely got the least bad weather at the weekend and it was very enjoyable. Mulled wine and hot food made it a good start.

Now for Easter weekend if anyone is interested..!

Good to hear that a few did make it and that the weather wasn't too bad (and fairly mild too). Nice to know that whilst you can't guarantee the weather, you're always assured of the finest kompany.

Three meets on one weekend - Ireland, Midlands and Snowy Mountains - and I managed to miss them all (although Snowy Mtns would have been a bit more of a challenge)!

I must try harder.

Oh so tempting...but it looks like I'll be moving house over Easter.

A rental property has come up a few miles away from where I am at the moment...3 garages, hard standing (well compacted gravel) and a spacious workshop with door wide enough to get a K inside without any bother. Apparently, there is also a house with the usual conveniences (like rooms) that is included! Plenty of room for visitors too!

It'll be nice to have all my Ks and K parts together again ....who knows, the donor bike might even get the make over treatment, although I'll need to replace quite a few parts that have already been robbed or were binned.
