Just wondering if there are any canadians here that went to the expo in 86 located at Vancouver. I'm only asking as on my footrest I've got a plaque from the expo; now I never went I wasn't even born. However the old owner told me he apparently went to america then rode down to canada for the show. Then his bike was put on display; I'll have to get a photo tomorrow if anyone wants it. But I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything before or got any photos possibly (longshot).

I'm making my k100 fully single seater so thinking of cutting them down hence why I'm asking before I cut them.

Said I'd post an image and here it is, doubt this will get a reply though or be recognised.

Thanks for the photo.

If it were me, I'd keep the footpeg hanger untouched and get a second hand unit to cut down.

My opinion only...

Per my reply to you on the SE site, I went to Expo '86 but don't recall seeing the bike. Even back then I was looking for a K bike, only being able to obtain one a few years ago, so I'd think I would have remembered it. I'll go through my old photos to see if there is anything in the background.

Expo 86 was a big deal in Vancouver and it also was the summer that I transitioned from university/first job to my actual career that I'm finishing in about three years. Ahh, good times....

nvboy and I must be of similar vintage. 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, or simply Expo 86, was a World's Fair held in Vancouver, British Columbia from May to October 1986. It tied up traffic like you wouldn't believe. Quite an event, putting Vancouver on the world stage. The theme was transportation and communication and they had permanent static displays of vehicles, but they were all painted a flat white. They also had temporary displays of vehicles throughout that time, for a few days or weeks. That plaque looks like the same type Iget when I display my collector car at a car show, so I think maybe your bike was on display there, and the PO got a participation plaque for displaying his bike on August 24 and 25.

I agree with the suggestion of cutting up a replacement spare and leave this one intact.

Cheers for the replies, I knew it was a long shot just wondered if there was any truth must have been crazily expensive just to ship the bike over to America then ride to Canada. However from the old panniers I think the owner had a lot of money considering he/she went all over europe to every country several times over.

I'll leave this one on the bike for now still getting my seat designed by a friend then I'll decide whether to remove it or try and work it in.

I expect it's probably held on with some form of adhesive. Perhaps you could preserve it and relocate it elsewhere on the machine?
