I have an old Staintune pulled from a K1100RS that originally had a cat and O2 sensor so the Staintune has the O2 sensor installed in it to keep the cat Motronic happy. I want to install the Staintune on my K1 (non-cat) so I need to get a bung to fill the O2 sensor hole. Anybody know what size it should be?

Hi Duck, I checked my K1100 Staintune exhaust today and found that a 17mm socket fits the bung so I'm guessing the thread is 10mm. I tried to take the bung out to positively identify the thread but after having been in place since 1998 there was no way it was coming out.

I tried to call the Staintune factory in Mittagong here in New South Wales a couple of times during the day but it went through to the answering machine each time - didn't leave a message. Might be worth sending an email, contact details below.

  • Staintune Aust Pty Ltd 51 Cavendish Street Mittagong NSW 2575 Australia

  • Email:sales@staintune.com.au

  • Phone:+61 2 4871 3188

Cheers

Good idea to contact the vendor.

The K1 is still in my storage unit until I retrieve it in a week or two.

Haven't tried removing the O2 sensor from the exhaust yet but it's been in there a few (actually a bunch I think) years so that may be a challenge.

Why not just leave the O2 sensor in the system you want to use but do not connect it electrically?

The extra weight.

Seriously though, it's got wires hanging off of it that I don't want to deal with. But if it won't come out (sometimes they're very stubborn) then I may just snip the wires off of it.
