If you own an early K100 be careful with the water pump. Removing the shaft nut will very likely result in shearing the shaft. This has happened twice now - both 1984s. Probably because corrosion sets in.

Not sure if it is better to leave "well enough alone" - might well break at the side of the road.

Which brings me to:

Anyone got a water pump to suit?

Regards

Guy

That's a guaranteed break point, it WILL break. Either fix with a new shaft or leave alone.

Errr .... leave it alone.

Maybe heat and freeze ... if the other seals need replacing. Recently saw comment that they seals should be done about every 8 years. My two were 34 years old. S'pose it's got to be expected.

Nyloc nut will obviously need replacing

That wasn't from a dealer by any chance, was it?

No ... not a dealer (I assume)

Private owner, enthusiast and obsessive.

Am greatly appreciative to fellow member sending me a water pump.

Just need the output shaft and a motobins delivery and then back together.
