Might be worth the ride to the Nabiac Swap Meet , fossick through a few trays of bits and bobs . Then for those interested , a wander through the Museum
It all happens on July 30.
Maybe an afternoon jaunt via Gloucester and Roadies Cafe , after the sun comes out, to finish the day off.

Love to Ed, unfortunately that weekend is the Hat Rally for me. I know some of the bikes in there and some of the race leathers hanging on display there were made by a motor trimmer I worked with for quite a few years.

Looks like a great destination, but at least 560km round trip from Sydney.Does not leave much time for poking around and all boring main roads.

I might look at doing a multi day trip on a more circuitous route with an overnight some place.

Michael , I'm planning to go straight up on the highway . It takes about 1hr 30min from Newcastle .
Then a more lesuirely stroll back through Gloucester and Stroud .

Call me a wimp, but that would still give me over 7 hours riding on the day, certainly doable but bit tough on an old bugger like me.

This week I will ride up to Bendemeer with a few mates, returning to Sydney the next day, 5 or 6 hours each way. probably about my limit of (safe) duration Smile

good to hear Tom .
This is an outdoor event with a chance of rain for Sunday , so I'll check the forecast again during Saturday, no fun in getting wet and riding on slippery roads .
but thinking of meeting at the Shell servo at Heatherbrae. maybe 8-9am departure.

Most inconsiderate of the Nabiac people to put it on while I'm still out of the country!

Hope to catch up with some of the Krew in August if the cold weather lets up. From what I hear, I'd be a block of ice before getting too far out of Goulburn at the moment.

Hope you have a dry and productive trip, guys.

Bill

Hi Ed, sounds good. How about we meet at Shell Heatherbrae at 8.30am then take it from there.
Sorry Bill that you are going to miss this little jaunt. Look forward to seeing you when you are back in the land of the cold. Goulburn went to -10 deg. a little while ago.
Cheers Tom

I might be able to make this.
I need to get another tyre out of my lockup in Newcastle so I'll try to coordinate that with the end of the week.

What time do you think you'll be getting back to Newcastle?

if we go the short way home via Gloucester, I'm guessing we should be back in Newey around 3pm.
If we get caught up with chinwagging at the Museum , probably still back in Newey around 3pm .
I reckon you should plan for around 3ish Nigel .
Tom , 8.30 is good for me . Should be finished my porridge by then . Have to make it myself as Tracey sleeps in on Sundays . If I burn it , I'll be there earlier.
Shame to miss you Bill , forecast is looking much better , even expecting around 24degrees , on a mid winters day . Cheering . Nabiac Swap Meet and Museum 723598

Tho' it be the height of a brilliant Pacific North West Summer here, no complaints at all, I'm having a bit of Aussie envy at the mo'. My red K sits forlorn and lonely in the shed in Beenleigh and could use a good blast down the motorway. I have visited Nabiac a few times and although a lot of the bikes and memorabilia is dusty, they've got some real moto gems in that building.

8.30 it is Tom . Be nice to see some old beemers on display outside . The museum as yet has no K in its collection . But who knows , one day , maybe .
Shame time is against you Nigel , next time .

TWB , I've been in a couple of times in the past . Most of their display is held in trust on behalf of bike enthusiasts . The rest is owned by the caretakers of the business .

Stan , the Krew behaved themselves today on the way to Nabiac .
We set off from Raymond Terrace in some what of a group , but disbanded quickly as we left the servo . My fault .
I spotted Olfart47 on his K1200RS waving to us, as we headed off , thought it best to see if he was going to join us .

Gaz and I endeavoured to remember Tom's directions , but ended up finding our own back roads to the venue .
Enjoyed the roads we found , Wooton Way was a real Whoot....
Eventually arrived at Nabiac around 11am , a quick call by Gaz had Tom and Dave in sight soon enough .
Wouldn't want to get there any later as many of the stalls were packing up to go home .

Caught up with a few of Al's mates at the Swap meet. Some managed a bargain or two . However it was mostly British and American Iron bits and bob's on display .

After a stroll through the Swap Meet and a meal at the local cafe , it was time to head south to Newcastle and the Hunter for this lot ,
a couple of F and  K's in the line up .

Thanks to Tom , Gaz and Dave for the Kompany today .

Sounds like a good day all round.  Very Happy

Ed , Thanks for post and pictures. A good day all round with meeting up with a couple of BMWTCNSW blokes and Steve who owns the purple?? K75S. Looks like he may join the forum. We had a good run home down the highway with Gaz leaving us at Buledelah. Ed left us at Raymond Terrace and Dave and I had a cup of coffee at Maccas Heatherbrea. The 650 went really well. Tyhanks for the company. Cheers Tom

Looks like a great day out, its a shame I "had to" go to the rally down south.  Glad you all enjoyed it.  Maybe another time.

That gadget?  CC Products/San Jose BMW/Luftmeister had a whole catalogue of stuff available.  Some of it was even useful (a bit like Touratech is now).

Adds additional cooling to the cylinder head by forcing air over the sparkplugs.  Whether it's required or not is another discussion but at least CC Products profited from it.
