Hi all, So I have just replaced the seal in the oil/water pump and after leaving it a week, filled it with fluids and hit the starter. Feck Sad  A steady rapid drip at the bottom of the pump from the weep hole. I have done this task on another of my K's and no problem however in this case there was considerable pitting on the driven gear shaft which I cleaned up with 1000 wet and dry however I suspect this is where the leak is now generating from. Would the wise ones agree or is there something I missed. The install of the new seal went perfectly and I feel this was done well so the problem is elsewhere but who knows.
Thanks for your help

That usually means the ceramic seal has been cracked on installation DAMHIK

Hey Rick, thanks for the prompt reply. Well that would be a right PITA if that's the case although considerably cheaper than a new driven gear. Will a badly worn shaft leak? To be honest the new seal went in really nicely and the only way to see if it is cracked is to destroy it removing it.
The task of replacing the seal was undertaken as there was a slight leak of water from the weep hole in the first place

Hey Rick, here's un update. I pulled and dismantled the pump and close inspection has shown that the ceramic seal had not been driven all the way so had not bedded fully. Don't know how I missed it, and hopefully no damage. I will reinstall and allow 3bond to cure overnight before replacing fluids and another test.

If the seal wasn't in all the way then when you tighten the bolt for the impeller it can crack that seal. It's not uncommon to crack a seal I've done it quite a few times over the years. The tradesman I had in my first year apprenticeship said "would you hit grandma's fine china with that F#@*^@ hammer then don't hit that seal with it".
I haven't come across a shaft that leaks between the seal and shaft but not saying it cant do it and if you can feel a groove with your fingernail then the seal will probably leak but that only applies to the oil side of the shaft.

Thanks Rick for the advice. It's all back together now so will run it in the morning and see what happens...
I realise now what I did. I used the washer and impeller bolt method to draw the shaft through the seal but you cannot draw it all the way without using larger inside diameter washers to allow the impeller spacer to pull up with the shaft. I merely turned the pump over and gave the oil side of the shaft a gentle tap to set the gear flush with the casing. Of course in doing that I moved the seal out the same amount and didn't check it. Duh!

Out for a 100km ride this arvo and initially though I still had a wee leak until I realised there was coolant trapped in no mans land within the seal cavity. Once that was out she dried up and is now tight and dry! Thanks again Rick for your suggestions
