(Hey, I know the topic has been visited discussed before but at least it's not an oil thread.)

The K1100LT I'm refurbing has cracks in the inner halves of the Gen 3 system cases.

From poking around here and elsewhere it looks as though some amateur plastic welding using a soldering iron flat tip is in order.  I'd like to add material when I do it. Wondering if there's some sticks of ????? that I can buy to add some material while I'm at it.

Something cheap from the Ebay Chicoms would be preferred.

Also anybody who's done this recently and has some pics to share would be appreciated.

there were a couple of experienced plastic welder guys that contributed to a similar post ....now  ages ago

but I'm with you .
there is now a heap of abs film (rod like material on a spool like oversized fishing line  ) used in all sorts of 3 d printers now days
I'm just waiting for our engineering area to get some
they don't like the stuff actually and use the other alternative (not requiring a heated bed )  sorry ive forgotten its name
but the point being the abs filler - film should be easy to find I recon ...even someone elses trash ???

would love to hear from those with experience  again

I did a welding repair on a case last year with a soldering pencil.  Didn't like how it looked so I reinforced it with some 1/16" ABS thermoforming sheet glued down with some ABS cement for plumbing fittings.

The cement I used was some I had left over from a PA speaker project I did about 10 years ago.  The cement I used had ABS plastic mixed in with it, so when it hardened it added a filler effect between the sheet and the case, hopefully creating a stronger bond.

Don't know where to get it, it came with the speaker components.  I guess you need to look for filled ABS cement.

How about this stuff?  Maybe with some fiberglass? (Just the fiber to give the bond some tensile strength, not the resin.)
