Hey there, just bought my first BMW k100 and love it. It's going under some major surgery at the moment with frame, suspension, engine and electrical modifications. I think I will be asking plenty of questions about the electrics as I want to ditch most of it and fit an M unit blue.
Hope you guys can point me in the right direction.
Many thanks
Dom.

Welcome along Dom

You bought your first K100LT and the first thing you do is butcher it....the horror!

Each to their own and I might be interested in a few off casts to help restore my project LT, if they are looking for a new home! That wasn't your instrument cluster on eBay the other day was it (went for £12) - it was from the Oxford area. I nearly bid, but missed the auction end - doh! I Used my (now) project bike as a donor bike, so have robbed a few bits and bobs off her to fix up my other two LTs and will be looking for sensibly priced replacements.

There are lots of posts on electrical mods, try the search box (try M unit - you should get a few hits) and then sit back with a long cool beer or large whiskey and digest the various options and opinions. The bike is designed to run with the original cluster, lamps etc and the simplest changes can produce some unexpected and frustrating results.

Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Dom, welcome along.

Oxford's my old home town, moved down to the Isle of Wight about 5 years ago now. This is a great forum with some very knowledgeable and friendly people.

I'll have to look you up next time I'm up there.

Dave

Welcome along Dom. If you haven't found it "Ted Verrill's article "you've just bought a used K, What next" is worth a read.

Click on the portal tab above and you'll see a link to it mid page.

Welkome to the forum. Good to see more UK members popping up.

I encourage you to meet up with other members in person and share some rides. We do lots of it here in Oz and the Irish are like minded. There have been a few small gatherings in the UK as well in recent months.

Cheers
