At the request of a fellow inmate, here is a very simple and inexpensive way of replacing your missing or damaged RS mirror and indicator pods.

NOTE: This exact example will only work if you have higher handle bars fitted. In this case, I use RT/LT bars. If you use mirrors like these ones on the RS bars you will hit the fairing. Other options would include using a generic fairing mounted mirror or even a combined fairing mounted mirror/indicator unit like on many modern bikes. Bar end mirrors may also work...?

Search eBay etc for something like "flush mount motorcycle indicators". There are a few styles to choose from, but these triangle ones fit the fairing and style better than any alternatives I reckon. Plus they are mega cheap. I think Ive gotten a set of 4 for $5 delivered from China before...They are bright and visible enough in use too.

The clear lens is poor quality and breaks easily if struck hard by something like the ground. The indicators will still work though. I bought a set of 2, broke them and then ordered a set of 4 so I have spares...
I also suspect the lenses are not UV stabilized and will perish in a few years of Aussie sun. I have an older one on one side of the bike and it is slightly yellower than the other....

Inside the fairing....Here ive just pilfered a perfect rubber wire cover/grommet from a stock set of Yamaha XT indicators...(Im using XT indicators on the rear also, but thats another story....)

This is a little plastic piece I filled down to sit in between the 'fins' on the inside of the fairing and allow me to fix the indicator on nice and tight.

Ive used a few sets of this style mirror on a few bikes and love them. Search for 'folding motorcycle mirror' or something similar....about AUD $25 delivered...

Generic 22mmx10mm mirror clamps - about AUD $2 on ebay....

Very nice.  You will be a hero to all of the RS owners who have missing lenses and mirror glass.

looks like a pretty easy retrofit.  One question: did you have to do any body work to the fairing as far as filling holes, etc. to make the signals fit to the surface?  It's obvious you did a repaint.

No mate, no modification at all to the fairing. You just remove all the old brackets. Another good feature of these particular indicators is that they cover all the original holes and sit fairly nicely on the fairing surface.

How do you go with vibrations?
The originals shake like a bas***d over about 80.
I have filled my handlebars with lead and now get minimal vibrations on my hands but the mirrors are all over the shop and are only good for seeing headlights at night.

You could try tightening the three securing clips by crimping them together slightly or buy new ones from Motorworks.
My R/H mirror was always loose and it fell off for the last time a few weeks ago. I re-glued the two halves back together, tightened the clips and now its solid.

Thanks Holister, I will give it a go.
But I am quite taken with the flush indicator idea.
Most of the mods I have done have involved removing stuff, cutting things down and lowering the rear.
I have flush rear indicators.
Floyd, I also have swapped the RS bars for RT so I guess I am no longer getting the wind protection for my hands from the original mirrors. It looks like you have added hand guards.
Mate can you post a pic head on please.

Thanks Floyd!

I have seen some bar mounted mirrors with the indicators integrated into them on Ebay. I have forgotten how to host an image otherwise I would put a picture up.

I am going to give them a go. I have been riding for about a week with a spare bar mirror installed I found in the shed and it vibrates no worse than the original fairing ones.

I will try and work out how to put up some pics when the job is underway.
