good onya Tom

Merry Christmas to all the members near and far ,

its been Quite a year with many ride out events across all nations , some described here in good detail

I see that there is some more inspiration is happening in "England " at last ...thanks to Frank Miles ,Micheal Oaks, Robin Carter et all with an event at Donington park

lets hopethe English catch the bug and form a riders group similar to the "Eccentrics" in Ireland and the "Crew" out here

and let the camaraderie grow to even more places

nice addition to the banner page Bert , love those reindeer icons at the top ol mate

cheers to all the mates and lasses from down here in humid Queensland

Best wishes to all too!. Said before, joining this forum was the best thing ever. But that was preceded by someone telling me I should try out a K100, at a time when I had never ridden any BMW ever. The aforesaid K100 was tried out and bought and events thereafter took their own course which led to 88KE offering some helpful assistance which grew into the Eccentrics courtesy of Comberjohn.

Yep we are expanding our way into the K Fest and we may even have our own little corner as so far we look like 4 or 5 travellers for what promises to be a great weekend. A reconnaissance trip to meet Frank Miles for breakfast assures us this event is in like minded hands who well know how to organise a good meet up. A promise was extracted from me to bring along Christmas puddings for the event so being equally mad I agreed to bring pudding for all. Any UK K riders reading this do need to come along for what will be a great event.

They have even organised to get a US lady K owner over to it [and possibly one of her friends!!] and spurred us into an idea to get Charlie Bashford up as well. Such a long was for a very short trip didn't sit well with Charlie who is being very modest. But we would like him up here at some point so we are still thinking on ways to get him here. Two Wheels Better has mentioned coming over to it too, if so we would love to see him for a wee travel too. I am still planning France ferry from Cork4pm 26th May for a 3 week trip.

Travels during the year brought a meet up with an Australian gentleman called Mick Cahill who met us in France as he wandered Europe for three months. He is back in May for a trip to Ireland and France. He currently has a Moto Guzzi down under and an identical one stored in Stoke on Trent for his European trips. Really enjoyed his company and looking forward to meeting up again as we share another little interest: offshore sailing.

A special occasion duringthe year brought me a special day for my birthday. With family grown and gone away we don't always get to meet up on the day and this year was one of them. So Indian036 and Lynette came all the way to Blarney in Cork to share the birthday lunch. Bjorn came along to monitor proceedings and it was a lovely occasion. Bill has mentioned being back again in May/June so lets see what can be done to get him mobile!!.

A special thanks to our esteemed CEO aka Crazy Frog. Without him we would not have the forum and his gently guiding finger keeps it all in nice order.

So, Bert, why aren't you coming over to the K Fest??????

Merry Christmas all and a happy and safe new year. Thankyou for all the help you have given me in the short time I've been here and it was a pleasure meeting up with some of the crew for coffee in Robertson.

Cheers

The friendships made, near and far, and the knowledge gained and shared willingly, are a few of the things that spring to mind, that have made this forum a very special place for me over the past coupla few years - what, maybe eight or nine all up by now? The Spring trip is in planning, and, man, what if Chaz can be there too!? You mob will meet a top bloke in our man Chazza, humble as he truly is. I'm honoured to know him, and all the other K riding ladies & gents I've had the pleasure to meet, who've helped me when I needed advice, a spare part, a good feed, a lend of a tool or two, a trailer ride to a workshop, a place to curl up of a night, or to simply go for ride with in the US, OZ and Canada, too.

To every one of you, a very happy Christmas, and a bloody great New Year as well! Here's thanks for a fine 2017, to a hopeful 2018, and to many more magical two-wheeled moments. There's even snow in the forecast for Christmas eve round here!

Just went on the admin page of the forum and found this:
Forum started:Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:43 pm
At the time, I was expecting no more than 100 users and a life span of no more than 3 years. You know, people are quickly losing interest of a site after a while. Obviously, I was wrong (Not the first time according to my wife Very Happy )
Well in less than 3 months, it will be 10 years and few original members are still participating to the discussions.
Few years ago, I deleted more than 2,000 inactive accounts (people not posting or participating) but the member's count climbed back to over 3,000 active members. Facebook had not yet taken us down.
I am very happy that this forum permitted to have all of you connecting together.
Should we have a cyber celebration on March 3? Lets see what we can plan.

Very happy end of the year holiday to each of you and your family. (Friendship is celebrated everywhere in the world independently of religion or believe).

CF

Also, from here in East Maitland, all the best for the festive season, and a happy and safe new year. Haven't been on the Battlestar Galactica since the Kaputar run. Ughhh!

Stinking hot here today, but a southerly change c/w thunder and lightning is brewing.

Cheers, Rickmeister.

Just like to add my best wishes for the season to all members near and far whether I know you personally or not. As has been said by others above, joining this forum was one of the best things that has happened to me and at the end of my (paid) working life it was integral to me transitioning into the best part of my life.

Now with friends around the world the great experiences just keep coming.

Looking forward to catching up with as many of you as is possible in 2018

Cheers
