Hi all.
I have an issue that's stumped me.
'85 K100C
I push start button and get crank for ~1second, then nothing for about the same maybe 2 seconds, hold the button and it repeats indefinitely. (not really, haven't melted anything yet)
Lights come on, fuel pump runs, starter will run if I jump the relay.
Cleaned the start button innards, seemed fine but shined it up anyway.
Cleaned the starter, no help.

It did this a few times in the past, but recovered on it's own and ran as expected for months. Until- dun dun dun da.

any ECM or IC experiences out there?

Thanks for any advice.

Since there are several ECU configurations used, it would be helpful if you list the year and model you have.  Also, if it has been cafe'd.

That is a symptom of a bad hall effect sensor.

Wow, that was fast.
So, I edited original post- '85 bare no modifications.
Replaced the battery, and have not run it down working the starter since this thing began (no hotted up wiring).

I'm up now but have fuel issues (I think). The collective has been invaluable and I'm grateful for the input. Now I'm off to sift through the forum for my throttle response with no idle solution.
Ride safe, I;ll see you on another thread. Smile
