I want to remove the grill to respray the fairing, but there are 4 of these little monkeys holding it on. Anyone ever had any success in removing them, without destroying anything?

I've removed them successfully by using a jewelers screwdriver to pry the leaves back away from the post they are anchored against. It destroys the fastener, but you really want to use a new one anyway.

if you can pry one edge up . then a good set of side cutters can cut through the outer flat section of the fastener , yes it destroys it but also widens the section allowing easy removal with just a twist to widen the whole thing ...you do save the plastic bolt section from too much damage doing it this way

they are available from any good bolt store shop as replacements
