In an effort to curb pollution, Paris (and probably other big cities) banned cars built before 1997 and motorcycles built before 1999 from driving within city limits during day time.

La fédération des motards en colère (FFMC) (An organization regrouping thousands of angry bikers) has printed this poster to protest the restriction.
They are also fighting the government to repeal the new law imposing a lower speed limit (from 90 to 80km/h) on any roads not divided by a concrete wall.

The poster translates to: How long will you stay without taking any action? - Be stronger together!
The bike is under the French Guillotine (Not in use anymore as years ago France abolished the death penalty).

Well why not join with the city ban and reduce speeds everywhere i.e if your car is built before 1997 and your bike is built before 1999 do the right thing and only ride or drive them at a reduced total speed of 10kph during the permitted period they can be on the road. (sure this will create a huge backlog of traffic for the rest of the day Very Happy .....just be sure to be off the road during banned hours) Good grief why would you want to drive/ ride at a reduced speed of 80 kph with the possibility of colliding with said concrete wall at 80kph. Soft rubber self inflating walls should become mandatory.

Bring back the French Guillotine for the idiots proposing these changes

And why not at the same time check the amount of rust penetration and metal corrosion on the Eiffel Tower with wind gusts above 1 kph ...surely more chance of folk being injured.

I did notice the date is not yet April 1st

The ban on motorcycles restrictions in Paris is in application since June 2016.
The new speed limit restriction has been voted by the government at the end of January and will be in application July 01 2018.
This is real!

The 80 kmh speed limit is coming, but as with the 90 kmh limit, I very much doubt that many people will take any notice of it. DOn't forget that these rules are made in Paris which is a tiny part of a large mostly rural country. The 80 limit is a trial for 2 years, but I don't think it will last that long as the French can be a veru militant bunch.
It might sound draconian, but then you look at the UK where bikers have to pay an annual road tax on their bikes and have an annual MOT (Technical inspection), we have none of that in France. We also have much better riding weather than the UK.  Laughing

IF the new regulation is implemented it will be permanent.
With the money that the government has spend to replace all the road signs and the installation of new radars, I don't think that the trial will end up after 2 years.

Since the "old polluting" vehicles ban exists in Paris, almost nobody who was concerned changed its vehicle. And aprox. thirty fines were given (for a 2.3 million inhabitants city!)
Nobody cares, not even the policemen who are usually using these old vehicles as they can't afford to buy new ones (for example, a brand new cheating Volkswagen...), or because it's their service vehicle.
It will be the same thing for the 80 kmh: that won't change nothing, the few experiments that were made before this decision shown no effect or...more accidents (!) before the embargo was made on these results.
We live in a country which economy is based on some happy few who love to create regulations that will not concern themselves for people who won't give a shit. Win/win.

A lot of our roads went from 100kmh to 80kmh a few years back. R and L roads now 80km previously 100kmh. Only N roads have 100kmh. Motorways 120kmh.

And what has this to do with France or French bikers Olaf?

We had to live with a bigger reduction on some very nice bike roads.
