I'm trying to remove the front ABS sensor on my K1100LT in order to replace the fork seals, but it doesn't want to come out. Any tips?
Both bolts removed, and by carefully putting wide grips either side of the flange I can get it to rotate slightly, but only about 2mm, and this doesn't move it out at all. Copious amounts of WD40 applied. Reluctant to try and knock it out !
Help!
Phil

Great news Philbuck...

I was going to say be very careful when using (mole)grips when trying to remove the ABS sensor as it is very easy to damage the sensor body...and whatever you do - don't apply hammer type persuasion to try and knock it out. In my experience, hammering results in mushrooming the sensor as it is very soft and it effectively acts like an old fashioned rivet.

On the K100 LT, the front sensor is attached to the right hand brake calliper, so detaches from the front fork when the calliper is disconnected. However, the dissimilar metals between the sensor and the brake calliper naturally sets up a corrosion cell when supplied with copious amounts of British weather and added doses of winter road salt. It really does not take much aluminium oxide to glue the sensor firmly in place. I guess on the K1100 the sensor is attached to the fork rather than the calliper - hence your problem.

Soaking in penetrating fluid and gentle manipulation on the sensor flange (the bits the bolts go through) is really the only option to get the beast moving. Glad it worked out for you.

My K1100LT with ABS 2 has the front wheel sensor on the left fork.......but the top faces to the left side. When my ABS acted up it was apparent that the fault was due to the sensor being damaged......by removal. Its reset for now at 0.65mm and fine but wont last. New sensor on the order list.
