Can anyone point me in the right direction please? tip and milometer work but sometimes the needle just bounces of the bottom stop, rest of the time its working fine!

My K100LT was doing that...was a sticky needle and a little tap on the glass gave me the reading. Was happening in hot weather.

But there can be other explanations too.

Don't know what year/model you are talking about (you should put that in your user signature to make it easier for others to help you) but this is not uncommon for the earlier Ks:

Thanks for that, I took it apart yesterday and cleaned up some contacts with deoxit and tightened 2 loose screws holding the coil in place. Seems ok for now but if it continues I will check on that push connector.
