The original gaskets were long gone..so I was thinking of pulling the forks and putting in new ones. Then I saw some blogs that say the new ones will just tear out asap. All the work and parts cost for nought. Is there some way to preserve them once replaced? Thanks; Webster in Oregon..85 K-100rs. mech

WHY? Those gaskets prevent cool airflow through the fairing. The fairing is hot enough without the gaskets, and would only be hotter with them. Get the air inlets, they're cheaper and and help the cooling air flow.

More agreement from this corner, even though we're not as hot as Oregon in the summer.
