Hi all, I recently scored a set of S3 panniers for my LT. Unfortunately the P.O. sprayed them including the rubbers to match his bike. Needless to say it cracked and scuffed.

Has anybody tried stripping paint off rubber? I like to get the plastic painted but leave the rubbers original black.

I'm not sure whether due to the texture whether you are going to be 100% successful in removing all the paint without damaging them. However there are rubberized spray pack coatings that could be used to cover any damage caused by the paint removal.

Regards Martin.

Yes good idea, I think Duck ruggedised some of his with truck bed liner or such. I must have a look at what products are available here

I've used Rust-Oleum truck bed liner and Dupli-Color bed armor spray cans with good results.

Regards Martin

I think that the Duck uses Line-X or one of the other commercially applied truck bed liners on his bikes. Says they use a two part coting that bonds better and is tougher against dings.

If the worst happens I believe the bumpers might still be available new, $70.00 per side. Check A&S BMW.
Regards Martin.
