Hi everyone.. I started putting my k1100 back together today (rear main), and immediately ran into a problem...

I don't appear to be in possession of part no. 2 in the diagram..(thrust ring).. I may have lost it, but I don't remember seeing it on dissassembly.
I've had a look online and can't see one for sale.... The picture isn't very clear, but I suspect it's just a cylinder shaped part that sits between the nut and oring that locates the oring.... If anyone knows where I might  find one it would be much appreciated.

My guess is if you did not have the thrust ring originally, if would not have worked as intended; major 'sloppage' (an apt word) would gave been evident.

Sniff...can you smell that? I think it might be bullsh*t.

It's hard steel, less than 5mm thick, and has a slight flange to it.

It doesn't seem as large as the diagrams imply. It's probably hidden in plain sight. Smile

I should think so unless you find candles within the housing. Smile Who is they anyway; which manual is this?

I'm hoping to finish this today and finally go for a ride....  Very Happy

Can someone tell me where the main, thick earth cable connects to?... It sees to head  towards the abs mount.(abs 2 system), but it seems to me one of the starter mount bolts would be a better earth....

thanks Paull

Thanks Rick.... do you mean the boss on the gearbox about 3" above the shifter?... My computer earths are long enough to get there, but not the main battery earth, although I have now added another cable from the abs mount to that boss for the battery...

and I've just started it up (still on hoist) and tested the clutch etc. and all seems well.... got a couple of little things to stitch up in the morning and I'll be going for a ride Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
