This look like a great place to get info on my winter project. Kept my eye on CL and one day last week an 85 K100 can on the market. He wanted $600 for it and it did not look all that bad. The front was wrecked, but not real bad, bent tube and cracked slider. Looks like it will be no big deal. Picked it up for $450 and it RUNS. Just got done reading about how to get the RED light to shut off when I start it.

Looks like this one was made 8/84 but I cant tell if its a Basic, RS, or RT. The owner before me trashed the fairing and all the mounting brackets he said was on it. I'm going to see if I can find some pictures of RS & RT's here and see which one I like, or maybe they have the same fairing on them.

5 years ago I reworked my R60/6 and drove it all around the State of Michigan over the bridge and back to Ann Arbor, only took about a month with all the nice places to see.

If you put the last seven digits of your VIN number into a parts list site, it will tell you what the bike was originally:

Welcome! Sounds like you got a good deal. There are a fair number of used forks on the internet to choose from so a little shopping will score you a good deal for them. If you patiently watch eBay, I'm pretty sure you can get an almost complete fairing for a decent price. I was able to get a complete 1100RS fairing about this time last year for about $500 shipped.

If I was replacing the fairing on a nekkid K100 I would go for the RS version. They are less top heavy and clumsy than the RT versions and look less dated. As far as what yours had, the bars are a good clue if it was an RT. They will have a lot of pullback for an almost upright riding posture. RS bars will have you leaning forward.
