Getting going on upgrading my 94 K75S and just found out the two downtubes each have a different purpose with one sucking and the other blowing so to speak, one downtube does the compression damping while the other does the rebound damping.  Have had good results with a DR650 in the past (way different bike but...)  and was wondering if anyone hear has experience with this.

I would have thought that having compression damping on one side and rebound damping on the other would give very strange handling. I then had my eyes opened when I bought my new Ducati Supersport last year, it is exactly like that, and a very sweet handling bike it is too.

I've got a set of White Power (still not sure about that name) forks on the latest project bike - comp on on leg and rebound on t'other.

You can upgrade both the suspension and brakes if you swap in a complete K1100 front end.  I've done it to several K75s.  You need to do the ENTIRE front end though.

If you want to keep the ABS it becomes a bit more complicated though.

Don't think I am up to swapping out the entire front end, thinking new springs and emulators will be more then enough for me skill level, looking at Beemer Boneyard the have nothing right now but the prices for what they have look reasonable.

   chris846 White Power is a proper brand name I believe (don't tell any SJWs). What exactly does the bike have? WP valving/springs?

The WP forks (and yokes) are complete off a KTM 620 Duke. It's not a straight swap - steering head needs extending for the longer stem, fork bottoms need boring out for the K spindle, spindle spacers need making. Then there's the brakes..

I only use them because they are cheap enough on oohbay, and good quality rebuildable cartridge forks to boot.

Same applies to the WP rear shock off the same range of LC4 bikes (KTM own WP). But you do have to make an eye to replace the bottom clevis mounting.

Those emulator thingies look very interesting though. I'd certainly be tempted if I were using damper rod forks.

I don't think you can fit emulators to the Sachs/Brembo forks, they don't have traditionally shaped damper rods. If you want to go the emulator route (as I plan to) you can fit some Showa forks from a late K75, they are absolute bog standard and will be easy to modify. The hardest part is finding some to buy. I'd also recommend getting the yokes with them as well, the Sachs/Brembo-sized yokes will eventually clamp the slightly smaller Showas but by gum you don't half have to tighten them poor bolts.

If you can actually fit them to the Sachs/Brembo forks then let us know because I don't think I've seen anyone here fit emulators to anything! I have fitted them to my TRX850 and like them very much, I can't wait really as the Showas are decidedly harsh at speed.

92 and later K75s should already have Showas.  It's easy to tell from the caps and tops of the forks.

But he is saying one fork has rebound and one compression, which is S forks? The Showas are standard damper rod with rebound circuit in each fork as far as I know.

I don't claim to be an expert but from the fiche it does look as though the S left and right forks have different internals and the Showas have the same internals on both sides.  Which I think is the point you were making.

Here is a pic of the fiiche based on the SN of the bike as well as the fork cap.   Forks are different, also found mention of the later models being Showa forks. May be in for a suprise when they are opened up but it seems clear.
   Talked with a local moto suspension guy today at STS in Naniamo, he was aware of the dual fuctioning forks and was a big fan of the emulators.

Those caps are Showas and you're looking at the wrong fiche.

Look at the "up to" date for the fiche you posted.  8/91 

Your bike was built in 10/93.

Thought I was looking at my bike based on the last 7 digits of the serial number.
Built Oct of 93 and sold as a 94 was what I was thinking.

Edit:  Opps I get it now. Thinking...……...

Edit 2:   I do not see an up to date but do see 'Catalogue  12/18'  opposite the SN entry box.

One thing you can do to improve Showa forks is to install Progressive springs:

Not sure what they do now but Works(Worx) used to have dual rate springs with a crossover.

Let's attempt to clarify: the exploded image you posted above is not what your bike, based on the VIN you entered, has. What Duck means by 'up to' is the built to/from date in the catalogue of the forks on various build dates, as shown when viewing the applicable list of part numbers. In BMW's ETK it is often referred to as 'von' which means from, as in from a certain date, and 'bin', which means 'to', as in up to. If you enter ETK again and look at the exploded image two sections below (I use www.realoem.com) you will see the innards of your bike's forks. Note that the image you posted has the item numbers greyed out, which means those parts do not apply to your bike, but the lower image has the list of part numbers for your bike. Entering the catalogue without inputting the VIN will show part numbers applicable to all versions of that particular model.

That's a lot of typing! Thanks, it took all of that to get it to sink in, think I have got it.   So this is it, only shows one though, both sides are the same? Looks like my end cap.
