I'm thinking of buying these 3 spoke wheels from an unknown year K100 and am wondering if anyone knows if they will be a bolt on to my 1988 K100RS . Thanks,EdK100 wheels 01616_10

My guess, based on the brake rotors, is that they are from a 16V K100RS.  You will need a Paralever and 16 Valve forks with calipers to start making them work on an earlier K100.

If you want to go three spoke, you need wheels from a K75S or K75RT.  Be aware the only advantage to the three spoke wheels is that they are about 1,000,000,000 times easier to keep clean.

I am not positive of this, but it may be that the rear wheel from a K1100LT will work without mods on your '88 RS.  I think the front wheel from the LT won't take your brake rotors.

Definitely a front wheel from a 4V K. They look skinny so both may be from a K1100LT.

That front won't work without replacing the entire front end with a 4V front end. (Unless your name is Larry Romestant and you make custom caliper adapters.)

The K1100LT rear will bolt right up to any 2V K.

Aside from being a zillion times easier to clean, the other advantage of three spokes is that you can more easily find radial tires - which is why I have them on all of my 2V Ks.

If you buy "new" wheels and then get new tires it's a good time to switch over to metal valve stems.

Thanks guys ! I'll pass on these.I was looking for an easy replacement and changing the front end isn't easy or inexpensive. I'll stick with what I have and use all that money for the gas on my next long road trip. Ed

These are K1100LT wheels, not the RS.
I have them both, know how to spot them.

1100RS rear wheel won't fit in yours, tyres are too wide. Need the paralever for that.

Front wheel doesn't fit, can't switch the rotor (6-hole<->4-hole rotor),
gonna need the yokes , frontfender and forks of the K100RS14V, K1100RS or K1100LT for that.

Only 1 on 1 swap are the K75 3-spoke wheels.

Yamaguzzi, when your travels take you through Boise, I have a three-spoke rear tire with your name on it.  Smile

Cool ! Thanks. I was thinking of heading west this summer but had to put it off 'cause I had a bad winter with no work. But,things are back to normal again so now I'm trying to see if I can at least get to the Barber Vintage Festival down in Alabama in October this year and do the cross country ride next.I'm really itching to get the K out on a long journey

Thing about K1100 rear wheels is the RS is 18 inch and 160/60 tyre. K1100LT rear wheel is 17 inch and will take 140 tyre. K1100 is Paralever rear, but 2v K100 is Monolever and you wont fit the RS wheel with the 160 tyre into it. I could be wrong but I believe the offset is also going to be incorrect...?

Edited to clarify: I meant offset of a K1100 rear wheel is likely to be different to a K100 Y spoke wheel. The K1100RS and LT wheels are interchangeable with no offset difference......I use both types on the K1100

There's no offset difference between the K11RS wheel and K11LT wheel as you can put a K11RS rear wheel and run it on an LT. (Both of my LTs have RS rears.)

But you're correct that a K11RS rear wheel won't work with a mono swing arm due to the width. (Or the 2V center stand.)
