Shocked
Hi all,

Just a quick question I hope someone knows the answer to.

I have to change the smaller seal on the final drive. It was leaking slightly for a while. I noticed this about 12months ago when I changed the large seal behind the wheel.

The small one now at the point it needs changing.

The rest rest of the drive is fine and I have read all manuals and have the tools just not sure about whether,

1) do I need to change the nut, threaded ring and compression ring. Not really sure .I'm only changing seal do these need to be renewed as well?

2) it mentions using hylomar sq37. Can't seem to find this type anyone have any idears of what to use.

I won't be stripping whole final drive down as it does not need it. Am I right in thinking that if I only remove the nut and castle nut and put in new seal I won't have to muck around with backlash etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. 😀

To all

Just thought I would let everyone know how I got on with the final drive input seal replacement.

I followed the write up that I was guided to and it went pretty smoothly.

The main key was heating up certain parts at right time and putting others in freezer.

I had the right castle socket for the threaded ring. It was very tight and had onuse a breaker bar with a scaffold tube on the end. It went after a bit of effort.

I changed the seal. Crush ring and nut just incase and used hylomar to seal threads.

Thanks for the advice it did help make it far more simpler than it could have been.

Got the grease all the splines as well as this was overdue to be done, so all good. Very Happy Very Happy
