Is this how I introduce myself? Hope so! My name is Lon, I’m from Wisconsin and brand new to bmw’s. On just bought a 85 k100rt. I’ve been riding since 63 and am 72 years old. Been on my other current motorcycle since 91 (it’s a 80 model Harley) and never been in a shop. In other I like to do my own wrenching:) hope to get along here well, and know I can count on all the help I need from members who have experienced the problems I’m sur to run in to. Happy to be aboard!

Welcome to the Knuthaus from another 70+ Bricker who does his own wrenching.  I think you will find these bikes to be pretty easy and satisfying to work on, and this is the place for the information you need.

The reliability that results from regular maintenance on these old bikes is awe inspiring, not to mention confidence building far from home.  My K75 has been to 42 of the 48 contiguous states and accumulated 40,000 miles in the past 5 years.  Not too bad for a machine that's nearly 30 years old.
