I'm, in the process of shifting the Crashpad switches from the Triple clamps to the Fairing. In doing so I find the Screem wiring has the Green wire broken? It goes to Number 2 on the switch. Checking the spare bike I see it is the same. Now confused I am wondering why? Both appear to be broken at the end of the tinning and appear to be old and been that way for years. Problem is I used to screen motor and wound the screen up the other day?

So these switches are not long enough to reach from up in the Fairing to the harness. Is there a parts number for extensions or am I off to buy some wire and do it freestyle???

I wish I'd presearched this earlier Sad

Hope these images help Keith. They're from the Clymer Manual and the authors are a little loose with their nomenclature as some of the "switches" would be called relays by many of us, however I think the "window adjust" switch is what you are after, and I think the task is buying wire and extend the loom yourself.

Yes Thanks Gaz, That schematic shows I need to resolder the green back on. And it does seem the only way is to extend the wires meself as none of the BMW sellers have an extension for the switches.

Must be a fault with the way they solder the switches if both greens were broken. I'll be careful with this one.

Thanks again Gaz

You are better off crimping connectors as they remain more flexible and less likely to break in an automotive application.
Regards Martin.

Yes crimping is good in this application, But I ended up tip soldering where they twined. Jobs done now. Crash Pad had a Merit plug in it, that is the only thing not to be moved. I think I'll just thermos shrink a cover on it and zippy tie it to the clutch cable. I only use it for the charger/tender.

Might go see if those plugs come with a weatherproof cover as a free floating plug.
