After 2 weeks I'm still trying to scrub in my new rear tyre. I'm suffering from Murphy's Law number 126. I had a new rear tyre fitted but they couldn't balance it as it didn't fit on their machine. The suggested a car tyre place and gave me some weights. I tried Bridgestone where we get our car tyres, the wheel  centre hole was too small, they suggested Yamaha up the road. Yamaha said they would do it while I waited, however it didn't fit their machine and they then suggested Bridgestone. The Trouble with Murphy 44271 I gave up and went off to the Trades Guild and made up a  blade type static balancer which proved a bit sensitive and finicky but it worked. I'll convert it to a four bearing type after I sort all the other things out.

In the meantime every time I went to scrub in the tyre it rained, but no complaints as we need rain desperately.  So while I was waiting, one thing has led to another. New tyre led to the fact you should do a rear spline lube, which led to exposing a leaky pinion seal and a popped drive shaft clip. This requires the removal of the drive shaft housing which exposes the GPI switch which has a intermittent fault. I have a spare so I can either clean it or replace it. So while I'm this far in I might as well slide the gearbox back and lube the clutch splines. As it's Australia day long weekend nothing is open. So tomorrow when I go to the Trades Guild I'll make the pinion retaining nut socket and the hold plate. Then come home and order the parts required. in the meantime I might as well start stripping it down.
Regards Martin.

Murphies Law number 129, the drive shaft snap ring is nowhere to be found. My Brick is related to the Bermuda Triangle. When replacing my throttle cable the adjuster fell off into the engine I pulled half the bike apart, airbox belly pan, fuel tank etc and never found it. Seat hinge pin also did a disappearing act.
Regards Martin.

Methinks I can / should send a resupply of medicinal Bourbon to help out - a good nip supposedly chases Murphy away.

A good nip might banish Murphy, but it might bring on the Leprechauns. And they can be a bugger to get rid of, climbing all over the place and hiding more bike parts.
Regards Martin.

If you lost the seat hinge pin then replace it with a M6x30mm clevis pin and an R-clip.  Much better than dealing with that OEM e-clip on the seat hinge pin that likes to run away and get lost.

Duck I got rid of all my "E" clips when I lost the first one. I bought these from a local charity shop years ago they were going to throw them out. They are OZ army brass badge and button retainers. This is what remains as I've given probably as much away. The hook plus spare "R" clips  and a spare pin reside under a Velcro strip under my seat. The hook is also used for removing the tank "C" clips. I've also done a couple of mates seats.
Regards Martin.
