Hi All, I'm very happy to be here and thank you for allowing me join your club! I've just bought my first K100, an RS from 1985 with 70,000 kms or 45,000 miles on the clock. I live on the south coast of Ireland, but bought the bike in Holland and had it shipped over. One week and 500km in and I'm loving the bike. I have a K75 'custom' also, but fancied a faired version to make winter riding a little less bitter. I tend to do most of the work on my bikes myself as there are very few, if any mechanics near me who have any knowledge of K bikes. In fact, I bought my K75 as a poor condition, non-runner for the express reason of learning how these bikes are put together. Over two years and with a huge amount of frustration, I can now claim to be a YouTube trained K mechanic. Chris Harris is my guru. I've signed up to his Patreon channel as a small thank you to him for all the knowledge he has shared that has proven vital to my getting my K75 up and running again. The K100rs was owned by a man in his 70s who for health reasons has to retire from two wheels, though he has bought a bike with a side car so he can keep riding. It's in lovely condition and I am delighted that there is nothing to be done to it right now except ride it and enjoy it. I will do an oil and filter, gear oil, final drive oil changes and check the splines soon, but right now I'm having too much fun wrapping up and riding it. Here are a few pics of the bike, and a few of my resurrected K75 too.
All the best,
Ian
