Few are for sale on Ebay.

One with 72K is located in NC (Canton) and it could be a nice drive to go pick it up.

Hi, does any one know if an 85 motor will fit, in 87 k100 and would it be a better motor?

Thanks

The engines are almost the same.

The 2 engines have the same physical size.
I believe the major differences on the 1987 are:
- Oil/water pump with a newer design for the water turbine and seals.
- Output shaft has 12 rivets in stead of 6 on the 1985.
- different design of the pistons and rings (newer models don't smoke after being parked on the side stand).
- The vacuum switch was also discarded by late 1985 (Many people had removed this switch on 1985 models).

A swap between a 1985 and 1987 would not require any modification on the bike.

It should not be any problems at all.

Good luck and let us know about your progress.
