hey og.....just noticed you have the same little "hole" in "under tank" insulation .

could i suggest ....next time you have the tank off ...(lets hope that is a long time comming ) that you fill in the missing bits between return and send ..fuel outlet/spigots .....

Yeah, Rob I got lucky on the seat as it was a flea-bay deal that hardly anyone wanted to bid on except me. Smile Just going to need to be re-done, but that's going to have to wait until next winter I think. Thanks for the heads up on the tank Charlie, and I've still got to pull the tank again to sort out the fuel filter sizing problems I'm having so I can add some more protection while I'm in there.

I just wanted to take a brief moment to say thanks to everyone who has posted info, pm'd me with help, and offered assistance tracking down parts through out the day today. I believe I've said this before but its worth repeating. I really enjoy messing about with the bikes, but its the people on here that make this place so great!

I'm looking at that cam pic, and trying to determine how bad that is. Is it a deep score, is the lobe ground down, or is it a minor mark. Granted it shouldn't be there, but perhaps what caused the damage has long since been flushed away???? Just thinkin'...

Hey C,

That is definitely the $64,000 dollar question at this point!? I am in process with securing a couple of clean used cams as the 284 grind intake cam is NLA when I talked to my trusted dealer. Still 38 of the exhaust cams available. Anyway, I'll make a final decision next week once I've determined what's available currently on the used market and after pulling the intake cam.

Thanks charlie. It's not the best value for dollar, but I had a bunch around the garage from a few stereo installs we did and it is very good quality. I talked to a Suzuki race shop that just uses rubber sheets and reflective foil over the top of the rubber, and they were getting 30 degree drops in their intake temps.

yes i had seen a similar product used for that application before ....for sound deadening but i seem to remember it was also good for heat reflection on firewalls ...im thinking now a little further to wraping the airbox and plenum ..

right at the moment its cool here (some say freezing) ...overnight temps down in the 11c (50f) temp range (along the coast anyhow) ...which is bliss for leather jacket riding ....better than our normal range up in the 30c (90s f) and higher .
but ii guess when i get the side fairings & knee guards on, the benifits will be more noticeable.

cheers mate

Yep, Charlie that is basically what the Dynomat is: rubber with an industrial adhesiveon the bottom and than covered on top by the reflective foil. It is excellent and cutting down on noise, heat, and vibration. Would luv to see pics if you go and do the airbox and things? Sounds like it gets properly Hot in the summer where you're at! Cool
