Just running this up the flagpole to see who salutes as they say in the U.S of A.

A ferry from Belfast to Scotland (Stranraer or Cairnryan) is neither far nor too expensive on a bike. Would our Scotish brethern (eg BIG D, MT350, ReneZ et al) be up for a get together (either side of the Giants Causway)?

No dates in mind as I'm on the hunt for a new job at the moment but these things take a bit of planning.

Oh and good luck with your job hunting, whats the employment situation like in Ireland at the moment?

Sounds a good idea 88. Rene Z and Big D had both mentioned a meet.

A weekend in spring is good?

Best regards

That's very true - hell of a trip from Cornwall. I would also be interested in a more southerly meet though Wink

Is that as far as you Dare venture South Dave? 👅

Why Aye....H'away the Lads! (or is that another county?)

I'm easy I can ferry from Belfast, Dublin or Roslare. Lets hang off on deciding a location until we see who's interested. Then the interested parties can pick a mutually agreeable location.

Any further South and you enter civilisation 88 - and the hellish congestion that is a feature of that part of this densely populated small rock

Until you fight your way through to the likes of Cornwall of course...

So yeah, on balance it's as far South as I'd choose go.

Maybe I should be a hermit.

Looks like mid/late April may be best option. We'll have to broaden the title to Anglo Celtic Gathering.

From my house to Aberdeen is 615 miles (or appoximately 12 hours) and that is using the motorway network (M5/M6 etc.) so unless you can come up with a more southerly meet I will have to forgo meeting up with you people) Wink

Sorry Team, just noticed this post. I'm game! There's a great place in the borders (moffat I think) and its bikers friendly (The BMW club go there on a regular basis for their monthly meets) with some great roads in the area.
Great idea, but I'm out and about a lot, so an early date (tentative) would be grand.
If in any way possible I'll be there! Looking forward to it actually.

I've been watching this post but its gone quiet, any dates yet, not shown too much interest due to work commitments, but the sun has come out this week sunny an i quite fancy a trip to Scotland. . . .depending on dates, and cost Rolling Eyes 720+ miles.

Guys - I started this thread as there was a possibility of me going North to Belfast and I though about hopping over to Scotland on the Ferry (Hence the title). However since then my work situation has become less certain and I can't make any plans until I've sorted out something new on that front.

I suggest someone from the UK contingent takes over the running, as there appears to be enough interest and starts a new thread in the European Rideout sub forum. If I can get there I will and I may be closer by then as I'm looking in the UK for contracts.

This sounds rather nice. I have never been to Giants Causeway but I have been to the Kilt Falls, Staff and Fingal's Cave in Scotland which are part of the same basalt formation. Incredible stuff and I would love to see the north coast. I have fond memories of Northern Ireland when we were young and would love the trip, finances and work times permitting.

To revive

I visited the North Coast with my son as a pillon last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, even when it was raining (downpoors :-)) at times. We went from Glasgow to Sky, stayed two nights (toured Skye in between), then went North through Ullapool to the North coast, there went East in the direction of John O'Groats and then went South to Aviemore, a trip around the Cairngorms and home again by Pitlochry. Had a blast and would love to do it again, but obviously we're talking about a bit more than a days meet.

As always open to suggestions, but lets get this on the road. Those antipudians are having way too much fun!!
