Check out this site.

As a suggestion, read all of the info on the page first.

It may be the best parts list on the 'net as apparently it is maintained by BMW itself.

The opening line says "BMW Motorcycles USA released a new Part Finder Tool "BMW WebEPC"
which allows the
user to gain access to all BMW Motorcycle part
numbers.
"

That does look like the ETK (Elektronic Teile (parts) Katalog) that BMW dealers use with the ASAP programme. When I ticked the box it required a password and login. It's basically the same as A&S Cycles or Max BMW's, and others, online parts catalogues. I have a dealer authorised CD of the parts catalogue for bikes and cars from two years ago if anyone wants a copy. It takes a fair bit of space on your hard drive and when a number is NLA there's no part number supercession chain but it's the beezkneez for looking up stuff! I can find a part number for the snap on a pair of BMW riding trousers, or a screw for an R51/3.

Hey TWB about how much disk space do I need for the whole catalogue?
This sounds like something that would be VERY useful.

OG, I'll have a look at my spare harddrive to see how much space it takes up. I don't have it on my laptop - too big for that. It's every parts and accessory catalogue in the BMW food chain, including Rolls, etc. They can't be easily separated.

4.12 GB is the ETK size on my hard drive. But I've heard this info may be redundant as it is now available here and there. I've had a quick look but no can find.

For quickie lookups my favourite online catalogue is still www.realoem.com
Cheers!

I can't find the 'general' section on the 'download' page which to me is off the 'home' page, or no matter where I look. In fact, I have never been able to find it or to see the manuals, etc. Is there something simple that I'm missing besides my brain itself at times!?

Yes, you may work with what is cashed into your browser.
You should clean the cash and try to hit the download page again.
What browser are you using?

I'm always using the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7. I just logged in using another browser and it's the same. Pardon, but I have no idea what the term 'cash' in reference to computers is or how to clean it other than attending the local Mafia business training school, but I'm not big on handguns and dark suits with sunglasses, either.

If you've got Firefox TWB go to Tools than down to clear recent history, and than make sure the Cache box is ticked and than hit clear now.

No difference at all, as I suspected. I don't think it's a cache issue but more a location issue. Like, where is it exactly? I think what's needed is a tutorial on how to locate these things.

I have been to 'home', I have scrolled down to 'downloads', ticked that box and I've searched for anything under a title of 'general', or 'manuals', but it is just not there. So I dunno where else to go to look for it. I have even attempted to search for it as a heading. Nada. I didn't join up here yesterday, so what am I missing?

Is it perhaps a password issue? A change got made a few months back regarding non-members having to join to access the site and download things, I recall. Is this a reason?

I'm in! Now I feel like a fully-fledged member of this exclusive organisation. What a dick it was to access. But I had the urge, made the right moves, and now I'm satisfied.
