Thought I'd better introduce myself before I got called out as a lurker. I been riding since I turned 16 and believe me that was a long time ago. I currently own a 1988 K100RS and a 2001 R1100RS. I live in PA, near a small town just south of Pittsburgh. I'm retired now, but use to work in the highway construction/engineering field. I've had many different brands of motorcycles over the years, but none ever felt particularly special until my first BMW motorcycle. I find the boxer and brick motors to be superb running machines and I don't for see buying anything else.

I know what you mean about them being special but I still have an enormous soft spot for my Z1300 that I have owned since new. Sometimes I think the softspot's between my ears.

If you absorb the information from the 27,000 post, you have all the chances to become a K100 guru (You may have few good laugh because we are not always serious). I think we have talked about every bolt and nut of the K100.
